My husband and I rented the cabin as a week long writers' retreat and felt like we were able to get away from it all and really unwind. The home is beautifully decorated, very comfortable, and the kitchen is well outfitted. The view changed so much throughout the day: low lying fog in the valley below in the morning, clear with green rolling hills and mountain tops mid-day, gorgeous orange and purple sunsets, then twinkling lights below at night. The town of Franklin is really charming with some great restaurants, a fantastic bike shop and great country roads for road cycling. It is also fairly close to Highlands, so a day trip there is a must as well.
Only a couple of possible drawbacks: you definitely need a 4x4 to get up the long, winding gravel road and driveway, and going out for a walk is not a leisure activity...it is all UP HILL all the way back. It is best to plan on taking everything you need up with you from town, as going into town, even though it is not far, feels like an adventure every time.
