We rented Avoca Blue in Corolla, NC in July 2016! We searched around Corolla for a pet friendly house as we wanted to bring our 55 lb dog on vacation with us! After coming across Avoca Blue on Outer Banks Blue we made a family decision to book it, and we have no regrets! When we first arrived with early check in, we were disappointed because the house was dirty (trash still in cans, beds unmade, previous dog fur on floors, etc) but that is not the homeowners fault and after calling outer banks blue that situation was cleared up within 1 hour and it didn't stop us from using the beautiful pool and hot tub as soon as we got in!

-PET FRIENDLY, huge plus!
-beautiful appliances in kitchen and stocked kitchen with utensils and lots of pots and pans
-trolley service is awesome takes you right to the beach
-sun sets over the bay while you're in the pool, so gorgeous
- great location in the currituck club, close to grocery store and other shops
Overall we had such a great experience at Avoca blue! Would definitely recommend booking this house !!
Avoca Blue is located in what should be labeled as "The Best Spot on the Bay" in Corolla!!!
The Currituck Country Club area where this home is centrally located in undoubtably the nicest community in Corolla.
So with that being noted we decided to make quick of this review, Pro's vs Con's:
The location cannot be beat! The evening sun sets on sound behind the property, the bay sparkles from the sunlight each morning and each evening. No place else we have visited on the southern coast has begun and ended our day with such beauty (Wild Geese and Cranes were also daily visitors).
Avoka Blue, is nicely furnished, beds are very comfortable and the linens/towels provided were very good.
The Kitchen was well stocked with ample pots, dishes and silverware etc,. (see below regarding appliances)
There were board games, puzzles galore and separate areas to enjoy both TV and board games.
The TV worked well (Cox Cable, internet) and the audio could be tuned to systems on the deck for pool/hot tub listening.
Washer/Dryer worked great.
Heating/Cooling was perfect.
This property was NOT CLEAN, the floors were dirty and there were cob webs and spiders in the bathrooms. The Master Bathroom had layers of old soap on the shower window sill. Not Acceptable at all.
Service workers interrupted our visit during the first two days of our arrival for maintenance issues reported by previous renters. ( We received no advance notice of their visit, which would have been appreciated).
We experienced an issue with the refrigerator door not closing completely, thus, we were forced to discard several food items (steaks, ice cream).
The stove was old and the broiler does not function correctly.
The BBQ Grill was filthy, drip pan full of smelly water and middle burner doesn't function at all. It fills with water during each rain storm.
Nails/Screws were elevated on deck steps, steps were warped.
The Hot Tub would not maintain a constant temperature and was very old.
We purchased an umbrella for the deck table, the furniture was older and very worn.
Overall it appears that the owners initial attempt to make this rental comfortable were admirable… But as other reviewers mentioned in this competitive rental market it's time for an update.
We most likely find a newer property next year to rent.
Outer Banks Blue the rental agent was a very nice to deal with in regards to acquiring this property for rental.
While the inside of the home is nice and the view is terrific, the house has problems. Shortly after arriving, there was a problem with the air conditioning. After calling the management company, it was fixed within 24 hours.
However, that was not the case with the hot tub. It was still not fixed at the end of our week stay. Repair techs were at the house every week day working on the hot tub.
We would be sitting outside on the deck and repair techs would show up. We did not have privacy and were unable to truly enjoy our time away because of this. We asked the management company to keep us updated regarding the status of the repairs to the hot tub, but were not.
