I would have to say that this attraction would be one of the best Whitianga and Greater Coromandel places i have visited. It is well priced, compared to other places. We went early and had 2 hours observing and interacting with the animals. Gaye and Fred were welcoming and friendly. Fred gave my grandchildren and i a ride on his battery powered train. This couple are very creative and have made many delightful structures for kids to play on. I especially loved 'the
Had a great time at Mill Creek, heaps of animals and birds to see and a great little playground a and picnic area as well! The staff were super friendly and attentive even while they were busy trying to fix damage from previous floods. We will definitely come back next time we are in Coromandel
We visited here this morning for the school holidays and the kids and adults had the most amazing time! The man and his wife are so friendly and helpful. This is a must do if you have kids and are in the Whitianga area. Can’t recommend enough! 5*!
My wife and I had a wonderful stay for three nights. The accommodation is cabin style with well maintained kitchen and toilet facilities, outside a BBQ area and plenty of seating. We enjoyed interacting with all the beautiful tropical birds which are housed in the park away from the camping area but access is free all the time. We enjoyed waking up to a sunrise over the hills and wandering around the many animals cup of tea in hand. The location is also well located to explore the east coast. A perfect way to end our trip to New Zealand.
We stayed in a cabin, talk about a value for money!
Kitchen, bathroom and toilet was clean. My wife is very picky, if she says it's clean, then it's clean :)
Cabin had comfy beds and was neat and tiday. It was in a lovely place, away from the animals but not too far away. You can go for a walk and say hi to the animals when you feel like it.
Price for the cabin includes visit to the Animal encounters, so def worth it. Lots of birds, playground for kids.
Only Con is the 4 km gravel road you have go drive on to get to the site, stick to 30 to 40km and you'll be fine. Pull over for other cars behind you to pass.
What a great stay! Our family have just spent 4 days at Mill Creek Bird Park and had a wonderful time. It’s a perfect location to explore the Coromandal Peninsular being centrally located to all the main attractions. The cabin we stayed at was fully equipped with everything needed for a homely stay (comfortable beds, decent space, great shower and bathroom - overall a lovely cabin). The campground was equally as good, with large spaces, clean showers and toilets and a great kitchen area. The Bird Park itself was great and kept our kids (10 & 13) entertained for hours! So many beautiful birds with funny characters! The horses and other farm animals were well natured and loved pats and some food. The guinea pigs and rabbits were really cute and a great hit with our girls. We had a great time and will definitely come back again - a great find. Mill Creek Bird Park is a hidden gem - a perfect place to ensure your time on the Coromandel Peninsular is great fun – highly recommended!
Some of the reviews have mentioned the birds in cages...that is the case but they are well cared for and loved by the owners, as are all the animals.
