Perfection

Absolutely stunning. This hotel was beyond what I had expected.
The location, the service, the rooms - all were top notch.

Check in was a breeze - we had an upper room overlooking the vineyards in one of the "outer" buildings of the main hotel. It was lovely - spacious, with a beautiful terrace (perfect for morning coffee.

Though it was too cold to use the pool, the hot tub and spa were divine.

The grounds, the hotel, the dining room and lounge were stunning.

Top it all off with fabulous service and a great breakfast!

It's about 5 minutes drive from St. Emilion - and you can easily get an Uber if you don't want to worry about parking or you are out for dinner and want to enjoy some wine!

The perfect experience.

Saint Emilion Stay: Almost Perfect, Yet a Sip of Imperfection for a Five-Star/Small Luxury Hotel Standard

A delightful retreat nestled in the heart of the Saint Emilion vineyards.

The location is stunning, boasting picturesque scenery, and the staff are friendly and accommodating.

Special mention goes to the sommelier who curated an Armagnac tasting experience tailored to my preferences, enhancing my stay with thoughtful gestures.

The only downsides (otherwise deserving of a 5/5 rating) were the refusal to grant a late check-out request; I asked to vacate the room by 13:00 instead of the standard 12:00, which was declined. Additionally, the breakfast offerings were somewhat limited. Furthermore, the air conditioning was switched off in a room that became excessively hot after a very sunny day, resulting in a bad night's sleep.

Would I return? Perhaps, but I would expect these issues to be addressed. In a five-star/Small Luxury hotel, perfection is expected, as is often the case in such establishments. Perhaps these shortcomings can be attributed to the property being relatively new and in need of refinement to truly earn its prestigious titles?

Wine and flowers

Elegant old chateau with new wings and spa. excellent food and service..magnificent stained glass windows that we not lost during the war...hotel has lots of light..looks over miles of vineyards..after all this is ST. Emilion. Staff is wonderful. the Hotel Director is a very charming young man. grounds are beautiful..only a short ride to the village

Great Chateau Experience

Lovely location, great vineyard views, amazing chateau atmosphere and all. The only downside if I really need to count was the knowledge of the stuff about the wine and its details. Also keep in mind to book the spa in advance, we couldn’t find a slot at all.

What an absolute treat

Superb experience. We had a lovely warm welcome on a bleak winter’s day to an elegant, beautifully restored chateau set in a vineyard amid lovely gardens. Our room was spacious, clean and contemporary with everything you could think of provided. Really comfy super king bed, and roomy shower. As in other hotels, they charge for a dog, but here they also provide a comfy bed and good bowls. Lovely to spend time before dinner in the very large spa hot tub, sauna and steam room. I was sceptical that I would enjoy the small menu in the evening, but we were blown away by fantastic flavours from the moment that the canapés arrived with our first drink. We had divided opinions on the potato foam with truffle, which came with the perfectly cooked, amazing beef. I always want more vegetables with my entrée, but we had an experience rather than just a meal, in the gorgeous art nouveau style dining room, which will stay in the memory.
The staff were charming, warm and professional. Hope they fix the locks on the spa changing room lockers before our next visit!

Room tip: The stone stairs to the restaurant are difficult to get up if you have mobility issues.
