“Best value in Mauritius”

This is a real diamond in the rough amongst many overpriced accommodation establishments across Mauritius. If you are looking for a laid back, relaxed, no frills holiday in a self catering apartment literally on the beach, with walking distance to the Main Street shops and restaurants, this is the one. We will always recommend Bayview Villa.

“Highly recommended for easy going people”

We stayed at Bayview Villas for nearly 2 weeks and had an wonderful holiday. There is so much to say about our experience so I'll just keep it in bullet point form!
> accomodation was perfect and very reasonably priced, initially we thought it a little unusual given the main road on the front door but quickly found it central to the 'local experience' and perfectly situated. you could litterally throw a dwarf from your back door into the water. Tip if you're uncomfortable walking on the road by the front door try walking along the beach then joining the road where there's a bit more space to walk.
> not really a place for young kids because of the music from the Beach House next door unless of course your kids embrace it like you do! Hey we enjoyed falling asleep some night to some cool live reggae tunes
> I miss waking up to the soft sound of waves each morning
> Cleaners are friendly, available each day and for a small fee will do your washing
> Respect everyone and relax, the locals are truely wonderful people
> Look out for Mo...or rather Mo will find you! Look after Mo and Mo will look after you, whether it's car rental or recreational activities, a good chat or a great cook, look no further than our mate Mo. I will never forget the braai (bbq) experience; from tagging along with Mo to local markets to picking up fresh produce to the taste sensation that was the bbq'd fish expertly marinated and cooked to perfection, no to mention the local-styled veggies!
> Negotiate everything, if you get ripped off you deserve it :)
> The beds were comfortable although if you're really picky amble down to Super U after a great breakfast on the water at the Sunset Cafe and pick up some cheap linen
> Self catering is the way to go...eat out or in, it's nice to have a choice. the utensils were clean and the kitchen has everything you need
> Don't be afraid to try local restaurants and food, we were pleasantly surprised at the food quality and beautifully cooked meals at the local restaurants. Why spend a fortune at the fancy resorts when the locals make better food and for a fraction of the price!
> don't leave this island without trying a Crab Soup (creole) and a Roti - the tastiest Rotis are made by guys on motocycles!
> August was a good month to visit, the temp ranged from 21 - 25 so we didn't need the aircon but it's there if you need it in the hotter months
> There were mainly local programs on the tele with the BBC news about the only English channel. Although if you're highly opinionated or there for the television then maybe this is not the place for you
> There is no Internet access but the Beach House next door has fee wireless. You could also purchase a SIM from Emtel and use your iThingy as a wireless access point
> If you like animals, adopt a stray cat or dog for your stay as there bound to come past the back door (they definitely don't bother you if you're not animal friendly). Unfortunately there are a lot of strays on the island, and most banged up from being hit on the road but don't worry about them, it is what it is.

“Nice but noisy”

We had a great time in Mauritius. The Anifa and her housekeeper were very friendly and all arrangements were well organised. The location of the villa's is also convenient if you would like to do any water activities. However it should be mentioned that the villa's are on the main road so you do get traffic noise and there is a busselling bar/restaurant which is open every night(except Monday nights) till twelve next door. This place would be best for couples without small children (under 10) as the traffic outside is quite scary. The views are amazing!
