Great Motel

Review of Tuxedo Motel
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 19 Feb 2024
We just checked out from our latest stay at Tuxedo Motel, where we have stayed at least three times per year for the last decade or so, typically for long weekends enjoying the Renaissance Fair, Woodbury Commons, and hiking. The property is peaceful/tranquil, situated on top of a hill, with nice grounds. The rooms are well-kept, clean and comfortable. The motel is bargain priced, even with a small price hike after many years having the same rates (hello inflation).
Date of stay: February 2024
Room Tip: Can order food deliveries to your room.

Third generation family owned and it shows.
So well maintained everything is fresh, paint, bathrooms, a/cs, TVs.
Everything is clean, clean, clean.
Completely quiet. Folks here know.. love, respect and class is the rule.
Finally the price.. I’m not even going to say become it’s impossible. Just know. If you’re bringing a family, everyone can afford their own room.
Love this place. It’s convenient to Woodbury commons, the renaissance fair, Harriman park, tuxedo and Sloatsburg of course. Bear mountain state park and bridge.

Room tip: Just go.. I’ve stayed here many times, I’ve never seen it full..

This is a great resting place for weary travelers. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, hot showers, air conditioning, refrigerators, and very friendly service. Family owned and operated. Beautiful, well-maintained grounds. This isn’t a fancy hotel but a very well-run small motel I enjoyed my stay.

Room tip: Plenty of parking, soda vending machine at front office.

This little gem sits 1.3 mi S of Alden Rd / Hwy 17 overpass. The family that owns it obviously loves the property. The rooms are not extravagant; rather, they are reminiscent of typical 1960’s motels that flourished at $6/night for families and other travelers.
I am packing the Appalachian trail thru NY, N to S, and this little treasure was a welcome respite for sore feet and legs before climbing Agony Hill the next day.
Everything is sparking clean, the room is sparsely appointed but has a comfortable mattress. Ice machine costs a quarter, but you get a gallon of ice! No snacks (soda machine is a lone dead soldier on the front porch.)
However, there’s a Valero convenience store that lives up to the moniker, just below the motel on Hwy 17.
Check out the dolphin fountain as you enter.

I stayed here for two nights while hiking the Appalachian Trail. If you’re looking for neat, clean and comfortable accommodations at a very reasonable price then this is it. I would definitely stay here again!

We stayed in a single room with a comfortable bed, clean shower room, good ac and fridge - plus a table and chairs so we could eat comfortably in the room. There are decent local options for delivery food and lots of shopping and dining a short drive away.

This is a budget option so don’t expect a coffee maker or cable channels on the tv - but there is good WiFi with a strong signal in our room. The gas station next door has fresh coffee and a deli with hot and cold sandwiches.

The property is certainly old fashioned but has a lot of charm - well away from the highway and feels tucked away in the forest, with a cute pavilion and picnic tables.

The best thing about our stay was the service - they really make an effort to make you feel at home and the guy at the front desk couldn’t do enough for you.
