Basic hotel room - some advertised amenities missing

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 8 Mar 2024
This hotel was pretty basic. The room with two queen beds was large and comfortable enough, but basic amenities are lacking - so if you just want a room for the night this is a pretty good choice, but be prepared for potential minor annoyances. Here are some of the things that were lacking on our stay...

There are 4 floors, we stayed on floor 2. The ice machine was out of order on our floor, so I tried the next floor up. It was also out of order on floors 3 and 4. On floors 2 and 3 the sign just said "out of order" (at least there was a sign). On the top floor, the sign said to use the ice machine on the first floor. Maybe if the other floors had that info, I wouldn't have tried all the other floors first.

The bathroom came with only two bath towels. It was easy to get more from the front desk, but an additional trip. I'm not actually sure how I feel about this. On the one hand, it was another minor annoyance. On the other hand, I feel it is better ecologically to give fewer towels per room if it is easy to get more if you need them. :-)

There are large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash affixed to the wall in the shower. However, these were not properly filled. Our conditioner was completely empty. Luckily, my daughter had brought some, saving us another trip to the front desk.

Finally, the hot tub was not functioning properly. No note, no warning, it was just at 80 degrees (brr - that barely counts as a heated pool). I would have been irate if I had first gone for a dip in the pool, expecting a nice warm hot tub to follow. Luckily I stepped into the "hot" tub first and found it to be super cold. When I went to the front desk to let them know, first they tried to tell me that because it's a hotel, their hot tub doesn't get as hot as some people like. When I showed them the pic of the hot tub temp (digital display on the wall) they said they knew about the problem and had brought it up with the manager. If you know about the problem, at least put up a sign so that someone is not disappointed by the non-functioning hot tub after getting in the pool. I didn't ask how long it had been broken, but I got the impression that it was several days at least, and maybe weeks. I had booked the room with points, and at checkout the person at the desk recognized me from earlier and said they would credit some points back to my account for the hot tub inconvenience. It's been a week, and no points credit to my account. I'm not holding my breath.

Working with this hotel for our wedding was an absolute pleasure. Kayla and Jasmine are true professionals and I would highly recommend working with them. They were quick to answer any and all of our questions and really achieved everything we had asked for. Communication was clear and prompt, rates were very reasonable and the entire process was a breeze. Highly reccommend!

We stayed here for our wedding weekend and everything was wonderful. They gave us a suite which was plenty of space and very clean and comfortable. They also left us a sweet gift that we were greeted with upon arrival. My family was also happy with the rooms they stayed in. Parking was convenient as well. Regarding the room blocks, managers Jasmine and Kayla were extremely helpful throughout the whole process, responded promptly to emails, and were just so kind. They assisted us with all of our needs leading up to the weekend and answered all of our questions. I really felt taken care of and confident that everything would go according to plan, which it did. My family, husband, and I were very happy we chose to stay at the Courtyard in Middletown!

Room tip: No bell service unfortunately

Beware: No hot water for showers when they are at capacity, as per the main desk. So they are fully aware of the problem and still allow guests to suffer. Also, the hotel lobby is nicely decorated, but most hotels these days have complimentary coffee in the lobby in the morning.

I was pleased with the facility and the staff. Everything was near perfect,

I really wanted to use the hottub, but it was out of order. But the indoor heated pool was warm, and I relaxed in the pool for a while.

There wasn't much hot water for a shower either day. So Luke warm showers were all I got. The water pressure could also be better.

The hotel itself is really nice and I ate the food from the restaurant and it was delicious. The restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner. Plus, you can enjoy a cocktail.

If you are in the mood for something else, you can literally walk to Outback, TGI Fridays, a dinner or Chili's and there is a convenience store with Dunkin Dounuts at the gas station.which is also walking distance

I had a beautiful view from my room, and the room was comfy and clean. There was a small balcony, and it was nice to sit outside watching the sunset.

Yes, it is pricy but well worth the extra money.

We had a very nice stay in this hotel for our nephews wedding. Barbara at front desk was amazing!!! Our room was a pretty big space. Beds cozy.

HEADS UP just in case
***Our two brothers did have trouble getting into each of their rooms. They said it was due to door battery not working. They were on two different floors so not sure what that was about but they worked hard to get them as soon as possible***

Room tip: Just make sure your door key working so your not locked out later Breakfast is NOT included. They have a breakfast bar which was expensive
