Carson's Woodside Tavern
Ranked #2 of 29 Restaurants in Malta
Price range: $18 - $49
Description: Carson's Woodside Tavern is serving up an irresistible assortment of American fare that truly reflects the diverse combination of cultural influences that make our country so awesome. You can go "all-American" with a classic burger or the perfect prime rib, or enjoy pasta dishes (inspired by our chef's family roots in Italy), Cajun flavors, spicy Mexican appetizers, house-made German bratwurst (knockwurst, sauerbraten and sauerkraut during Oktoberfest!), Irish corned beef and cabbage in March (don't forget the Guinness!), and French influences in our sauces and specials. And of course, we have house-made soups daily, a wide variety of side and entree salads, and vegan and gluten-free options. In other words, there's something for everyone at Carson's!

My husband and I drove around the Lake to discover this place. We pulled over and the view was beautiful and swung in to get a drink. Pleasantly surprised and they were closing due to a private party at 6pm, we got there at 5pm. They didnt' throw us out as there were at least 12 people there all having drinks in adirondack chairs taking in the view. The bar tender was excellent. Good local brews and when the private party showed up they didn't kick us out, just shut down the bar at 6pm or so. Beautiful sunny warm day to sit and have a drink. Nice fire pit, wasn't ' in use but the landscaping was very nice. We'd go back and maybe next time stay for dinner or lunch. One of the few places that was open around the lake others were seasonal. This place had entertainment in the fall, flyers on the wall, nice bar area, etc. Can't go wrong.

It was off season, so no waiting for a table. I'm sure very busy during peak season. Service was good, a bit slow. Menu has many choices. Little neck clams were a delicious starter. Burgers and seafood were excellent. We will def make it a place to stop into again when visiting the area.

We had read about this restaurant and wanted to try it, but we were concerned about a long wait. We were told it would be 45 minutes and it was already 8PM and we were tired. We went in the bar area to wait and a high table became available so we sat down. We found out we could order from there and we did. Excellent food. Recommend the turkey traveler which was delicious.

I met with a group of friends for lunch and the setting is beautiful. It does not make up for the snarky service from our waitress or the poor food. My friend ordered a medium rare burger and received one cooked medium well. It took her 10 minutes to get the waitresses attention to send the food back. My chicken sandwich was overcooked and dry. I did not bother to complain after watching my friends experience. We finally waved our empty water glasses for refills and the young woman filled them saying "I asked before if you wanted anything else". We had a late arrival who orderd a salad with grilled chicken and it was served in only a few minutes, reinforcing my assessment my grilled chicken had been cooked earlier and rewarmed when I ordered. 25 minutes had passed since the burger had been sent bck and we finally asked a different waitress to check on it. When the bills were dispersed I mentioned to the waitress my sandwich was very dry, I ate less thn half, and she said " well if you should had said something " not in a pleasant manor. We were a group of older women I and others with restaurant experience who generally are pretty easy going and tip well. For a lunch menu that tends toward the high side, my grilled chicken $14.50 and my friends burger $12.95, we expected better. Won't be returning.
