I try to be fair with reviews, as I realise it affects peoples jobs. The positives were that we got a clean room, well insulated from outside noise, and a comfortable bed. Coffee making facilities in room, and access to cold and hot water machine at mezanine level. Fairly consistent housekeeping. A reasonable breakfast is included in the price, and it is accessible to central NY via nearby subway. And it was cheaper than staying in Manhattan. However, there is no safe, either in room or at front desk, making it necessary to carry passport and all other belongings at all times. And it took a month for the 'deposit' pre-authorisations to be fully cleared from my credit card, requiring messages to the hotel, booking company and bank during that time. I would like to think this was a one-off, but it seems others have reported similar irregularities. Again, to be fair, my impression is that this was down to disorganisation and inexperienced staff, rather than a deliberate policy. However, for this reason, I would not stay again.
