I recently stayed at Wingate by Wyndham Long Island City in New York and had a generally pleasant experience with a few notable drawbacks.
Positive Aspects:
• Spacious and clean rooms: The room was modern, large, and impeccably clean. The cleanliness extended to the toilet and shower, which were spotless and well-maintained.
• Convenient location: The hotel is conveniently located near a subway station, just a 7-minute walk away, making it easy to access Manhattan. This proximity to the subway was a significant advantage.
• Room amenities: The room included a refrigerator, which was very convenient. Additionally, the hotel provided water and coffee 24/7, a nice touch for guests.
• Helpful staff: The people working at the hotel were very helpful, which enhanced our overall experience. Their assistance and friendly demeanor were much appreciated.
• High floor request: We requested a room on a high floor and were pleased that our request was accommodated.
Negative Aspects:
• Breakfast experience: The breakfast options were very limited, and the seating area was often crowded with dirty tables. Only one staff member seemed to be working very hard to manage everything. Unfortunately, the coffee was not good and was even cold on some days.
• Neighborhood concerns: The area around the hotel did not feel safe, with some strange individuals around. Additionally, the neighborhood was not clean.
• Parking limitations: The hotel only offers about five paid parking spaces on a first-come, first-served basis, which can be quite inconvenient for guests arriving by car.
In summary, Wingate by Wyndham Long Island City in New York provides a comfortable stay with clean, spacious rooms and a convenient location near the subway. However, the limited breakfast options, neighborhood concerns, and parking limitations are areas that need improvement. Despite these drawbacks, the hotel's affordability and room amenities make it a viable option for travelers looking for a budget-friendly stay in New York.
