A couple things you should know before you go that I didn’t.

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 26 Aug 2020via mobile
1) This hotel is used as a homeless shelter ( they don’t tell you at check in ) when I came to the hotel it was people hanging outside and in the lobby with NO MASKS ON.

2) Off Street Parking Is 25 Per Night .. I read other reviews stating the parking was underground, I wasn’t offered that instead I was offered to park directly behind the hotel unlike everyone else.

3) There is no breakfast at the moment due to covid.. most hotels I’ve stayed at during the pandemic still offer atleast packaged muffins & orange juice .. not here! Sign on the elevator specifically states there is NO breakfast due to covid.

4) I did stay on the 10th floor and honestly .. the partial view of the city I had was actually nice. And the room was clean ( except there was a keycard left on the table from before I checked in ) and the toilet rolls weren’t brand new .. but for under 95 dollars a night in New York you can’t beat it.

I just think it would be nice to know EXACTLY what you’re getting into before getting there so that way your expectations aren’t that high and nothing will catch you by surprise.

My credit card information was stolen at the hotel.
I haven't stayed, but on June 15, 2020, I was charged $869.54, $869.54, $758.26, $758.26 for a total of $3,255.60.
After checking with Choice Hotels Japan, my credit card information seems to be stolen at this hotel.
Please do not stay.

I just had a meeting there today in the lobby to discover it is a homeless shelter and I think out-of-town tourists should know why the prices are so low for being just two subway stops from Manhattan. There are NYCHA Housing Projects at this train location and two-star hotels being used by the City of New York as homeless shelters. I would not bring my family to a homeless shelter to stay while vacationing because it is filthy and dangerous. If I traveled from far away to see New York City and arrived from the airport at this hotel and the surrounding area, I would cry. Save your money all year long and stay at a respectable place that is clean and safe. There should be a law that notifies hotel guests whether the property is being used as a homeless shelter.

Room tip: This is a homeless shelter

It seemed to be out of the way, which was good. It was clean and had a nice breakfast and the staff was exceptionally knowledgeable. Don't know why the review has to be 200 characters long but here it is.

The best features of this hotel are its location less than 2 blocks from a subway line into Manhattan, and its relatively attractive price. It is located in a commercial neighborhood that is in transition - there are several newer hotels and much renovation/construction within a block or two. But those not used to big city life might find the location a bit daunting. Our very small room was modern and comfortable, providing you don't plan to spend a lot of time there. The upper floor location provided a nice view of the Manhattan skyline. Parts of the hotel building seem to be used as residences or SROs, as evidenced by the parade of mothers taking their kids to school. Staff were personable, but had difficulty with calling rides for us on two instances. The included breakfast was adequate. There are a couple simple eateries within about a block's walk.

We chose Sleep Inn as a centrally located stay. It’s a 3 minute walk to the F train. Our rooms were comfortable, the staff was friendly and helpful, and breakfast was sufficient. Our rooms also had a city view, which was great! I would recommend this Choice Hotel! Also, although parking is $25 per night, it’s worth it, as your car is in a locked lower level garage.
