We stayed here 4 nights the first week of November 2017. We first stayed in the Hilton Time Square near broadway for our first four days on the trip. The HILTON hotel experience was marvelous, the Days Inn was lacking in cleanliness.
The Days Inn LIC was close to the subway, really inexpensive subway trips. Take that if you are going into Manhattan. We stayed in room 507 on the 5th floor. The room had a chemical, cleaning supply, musky smell to it - not very pleasant. The room in between the bed and all was about a foot on both sides. Tight quarters, and not the best internet connection. We connected to LinkNYC free and got pretty good internet from that.
The cleaning carts are left right outside our door 24/7, doesn't seem like they had a space to store them. They didn't vacuum our room before we got there and any of the time that we stayed, we were finding ear plugs on the ground from pervious guests. This hotel is located on one of the busiest intersections you could imagine, it was busy day and all night. The honking of trucks and cabs is constant. Luckily, closing the window gives a minor escape from the noise pollution. They had a ac/heater unit, which worked nice expect the burning smell while using the heater.
The bed was pretty uncomfortable, and they gave us 3 pillows, the bed looked so weird with just the three. The tv connection to channels was pretty bad quality, and the screen colors seemed off with a green tone.
The free breakfast was good, you should head down early to get food before they run out. The front desk staff was nice.
I don't think we would stay here again because I felt like it was really dirty, and I could have just stayed at the hilton in manhattan for $40 more. Overall I felt very uncomfortable due to the lack of cleanliness in the room.
