Myself and 2 girlfriends stayed here for 4 nights the beginning of August. I can't remember our room number but we were on the 3rd floor facing the front parking lot.
I had read a bunch of reviews before going so I was aware the parking lot had very limited space and there might be train noise... However we lucked in and got a parking spot out front right away and never once heard any trains! Granted we slept with air conditioning on, but didn't hear anything.
The location was amazing.. My friends were throughly impressed impressed with this. About 2 blocks to 2 different subway stops/lines, and a very short ride straight to times square.
The breakfast wasn't anything special but it's what I expect for free hotel continental breakfast.
My 2 suggestions for management of this hotel is to put something on the stairwell doors so they slowly shut on their own rather than slam (again, this didn't bother us and we made sure to softly close it ourselves), and remove some of the bulky furniture from the room! The room was a decent size for what I would expect for new york, but there is no need for a desk and chair, or even a dresser really - attach the TV to the wall. More space would have been wonderful.. Simply need to declutter the 90s furniture.
The only things we wanted for a hotel was free parking (a rare find for NYC!!), close to trains, free cancellation option, and free breakfast... And we got all of that here so I would definitely stay here again!
