Good property but needs a bit of consistency with its customer service

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 4 weeks ago
Very spacious retro-designed room. Proper coffee machine. The location is a sort of a quiet community. A few dining options in the vicinity. Front desk left much to be desired - not welcoming at all. Front-of-house service was a bit inconsistent. Arriving exhausted slightly past midnight, we greeted the front desk staff but they barely said a word, looked at us uninterestingly and quite murmured something about what my name is. The daytime staff, however, were a total opposite.

Good hotel for family with a larger than normal room size (2 queen beds), gorgeous view, good temperature control. Only things that were not ideal was the tv didn’t work and they could not fix it and the light switch for the bathroom was at the entrance. The light in the bathroom was very dim. The walls to the bathroom were frosted glass so difficult to have sound privacy. The bathroom was spacious with an inviting tub for soaking and a separate shower. The toilet was in a glassed off area with a door but it was very cramped. Professional and helpful desk staff. No food service or restaurants nearby, only vending machines for food options. Modern industrial decor. We all slept well. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Room tip: No food service or restaurants nearby. Vending machine is the only close option.

Business Trip to NY. Ended up needing to look for an alternative hotel as normal hotel near corporate office were gouging on price for the week. The pricing for the hotel was much better and I thought with a 3.5 rating it will work under the circumstances. I didn’t start looking at the actual customer reviews until I arrived in NY and thought based on some of the customer experiences this would be a penny wise pound foolish decision. So here is my experience as it relates to some of the common customer comments. (1) Staff - I had a good experience- very friendly (2) Room - clean, large for NY and quite modern (3) Mattress - it was a foam mattress and seemed ok (4) Hot water - no issues (5) Noise - the hotel is situated in an industrial type are close to a busy bridge (6) Door locks - no problem. It’s certainly not a quiet location but it is NY. I am a light sleeper so I always use ear plugs so had no issues. For me the biggest issue is no hotel breakfast area/restaurant and while you could probably walk 15 mins to a restaurant in the evening, the area as some customers have said is a little sketchy and of course to get to the office on 46th St I ended up using Uber - approx $40 each way. Would I use it again, probably not just because of the location.

Room tip: Ear plugs. Eat lunch and dinner elsewhere before heading back to the hotel.

Hotel is nicely situated in L.I.C the heart of it. Rooms are a decent size. Balcony had nice views which I can appreciate. I was in room 74 and it was a nice view. At night it is more beautiful. I liked the bathroom. Nice shower head, bright lighting, and I liked the tiles. They should have a makeup mirror in there though . The soap smelled good too . I would return. I also could appreciate the Pepsi cola sign being close by, and many different eateries in the area. However the hotel should have a bar and restaurant for their guests to unwind and somewhere to chill and lounge. I also noticed that they have a rooftop. That shows the whole city skyline view. They should allow that space for guests. I was able to gain access to it cause it seemed opened so I went take photos up there and boy it was beautiful. The whole NYC skyline and city views.

Room was not what I requested (did not want to overlook the parking lot and noise). Lock on door was broken. Remote control did not work. Bed was shot. Surfaces needed to be wiped down. "High speed internet" was a shocking 8 mbps. Sketchy neighborhood with no amenities around. Will not stay here again.
