Disappointing

2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 30 Jul 2022
The entire first floor smelled of smoke, worse in our room. There were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling and the a/c vents were full of dust. The shower was covered in mildew. The carpet was CRUNCHY. Stay somewhere else!!

I am sorry for the cleanliness issues you experienced and the smell of smoke. It is below our standard and I've made the managers aware of your comments.

I am not sure where some of the criticisms being posted on here are coming from. Our group really enjoyed our short visit here. The outdoor pool being out of commission was a disappointment, but the rest was great. Rooms were clean and large; the lobby and eating areas clean and spacious. Breakfast met our hot and cold breakfast wants and needs. 24 hour coffee is always appreciated. Plus there was an excellent little marketplace that included alcohol, sundries, and food. Of course, Denny's and Cracker Barrel are in the parking lot. Above all, staff, including management, went above and beyond to meet our group needs. What's not to like? We will be back.

Thought I would try a little something different with my stay in East Greenbush and chose this Fairfield Inn for a Sunday night stay (Sunday nights are widely seen as "shoulder nights" with hotels and therefore are usually when you get them a little cheaper). It was noted that at around 7pm, the parking lot was about 20% full, and when I checked out, probably about 50% full. No tour buses hiding in back. Very little activity ever heard in hallway. So, let's just say they didn't sell out on this night and probably weren't close.

Let's begin with the performance of the wireless internet. Absolutely flawless. The room was clean, but I was left four packets of decaff "coffee", and none of regular. At least it was available in the lobby. No plastic linings in the trash cans. That didn't stop me from using the cans, but it's not the most sanitary way to go about things.

Guest service was standard. Not "wowed", not disappointed.

At 6:15, hot breakfast was not ready, though breakfast is from 6-9. Items were beginning to trickle out, and I took what did and it was fine. But I was never able to see what was offered. This brought what was going to be a 4-star review for lack of value to a 3-star review.

At $129, and on a night the hotel did not sell out, this hotel is not a value. The Capital Region has a TON of options, and while this may have been the market for East Greenbush or a "we're really close to downtown Albany" hotel, cheaper quality options were available within the Capital Region, as a whole. If I could see that the hotel was sold out, or close, I would feel better about paying this. But from what I saw, it was not.

At around $99, and if breakfast was timely, I would have given 5-stars. I simply do not feel that this hotel is a value if one is not stuck on staying specifically in East Greenbush or within say, 5-10 miles of downtown Albany.

It's acceptable, but I was not won over.

Room tip: If the hotel is not sold out, don't pay for the advanced wireless.

I stayed for one night on business travel. The rooms were outdated and dirty but worst of all, the walls were paper thin. I could hear the TV And voices of people next door as if they were in my own room. I was totally creeped out, I've never experienced such a thing. Staff was friendly and breakfast is included, but if you are interested in sleeping, stay somewhere else. This hotel is in desperate need of an upgrade.

First the positive: the staff is pleasant and responsive. The property needs work, though. When we awoke, we found that, overnight, the ceiling had leaked water (we think/hope) into a suitcase!! This hotel clearly has water problems, and the rooms affected should not be rented until they are solved. To their credit, the staff was apologetic and refunded our payment for the room. Nevertheless, leaking ceilings are not acceptable.

Room tip: Avoid room 300 and any others with water issues. Check the ceilings for water spots!

Given the previous reviews and the great rate (10,000 points) I was a bit worried about what I would find, but it was great. Totally fine and would not hesitate to book there again if I’m in the area. It’s not the most updated designed, but was clean and sufficient.
