My high school class has been returning to Albany for reunions for many years. This year we hit the hotel jackpot! After Covid, it had become difficult to book a site without engaging in a tedious and frustrating bidding process. One of our classmates happened to live near Homewood Suites at 216 Wolf Road and walked in off the street to investigate. We were immediately able to deal directly with a friendly, responsive, encouraging and detail-oriented manager who guaranteed the specifics that we required.
Hospitable is the key word for this hotel. When we arrived, the manager greeted us personally, as did many behind-the-scenes staff members. We even found the other guests to be friendly and welcoming. From arriving at the nearby airport, to checking in, to gathering in a spacious lobby, to enjoying a delicious daily complimentary breakfast in a room with flexible seating arrangements, to joining the weekly Wednesday evening buffet (we were allowed to move our tables) to chatting around the patio fire pit, all was pleasant and effortless.
The rooms were spacious, clean and well equipped with an eye to anticipating needs. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The atmosphere was quiet. There was an elevator for access to our upper floor. The parking was ample. Neighboring businesses provided food and drink. A shuttle was available for transportation around the immediate area.
What else could we have wanted? It was home away from home.
