Stayed here with family, hotel room was OK, not excellent but clean and functional.

The service however was really excellent! Nothing was too much trouble. The Manager and staff were brilliant!

Food was also very good, great selection of food with main courses ranging from £9 - £19.

Steak, curry, Fajitas, gourmet, pub classics, etc, excellent selection, well presented and very tasty.

I have to mention the service again because this really was outstanding!

Thoroughly recommended.

We dined here with friends in the area. The decor is awesome. Spend some time walking around to see. But the food is terrific. Entrees were excellent but splurge on the fondue. I had not had fondue in a long time. It was great fun

The pub is in a quiet rural location except for some traffic which whizzes past en-route to work, but being early risers this didn't matter to us. The staff were efficient and polite. The evening meal served on Sunday night was only "average" being the same as offered for lunch, but a better choice was available the following night.
Our room was comfortable BUT the bathroom was the smallest we had ever experienced. The basin was elevated by around six inches to give enough hip room to squeeze past to the loo ! (the height bodge to the basin pedestal gave us a laugh anyway) Despite a few shortcomings the pub suited our requirements.

Room Tip: Avoid No.7 if you are any larger than average around the middle!

We would usually have stayed nearer to the centre of town but this weekend was very expensive due to the food festival. This venue is essentially a pub with rooms and was good value. The staff are friendly and there is plenty of parking. The rooms are pretty basic and definitely need some TLC. Very shabby bathroom - no window or toilet lid and the skirtings, doors etc,, very tired and old. However, the room seemed clean and bed was comfortable. We had asked for a double but were given twin beds pushed together with single duvets so not ideal.Very poor lighting in the room and one small mirror so quite challenging to get changed and put on make up!
We had been given room 16 which is at the end and is their disabled room -(we are not disabled but they were nearly full when we booked) - this is an odd room (not sure how someone in a wheelchair would get past the beds to the bathroom). We had thought we would have a quiet night as no rooms were nearby - However, the fire exit is outside the room which every man and his dog use as a quick exit to the carpark for a fag or the other side of the hotel, so quite noisy!
Restaurant is pleasant, as is the service but slow service both at night at in the morning at breakfast.
The carpets in the corridors really need a proper clean. Overall this is good for one night and we were happy with what we had but a little upgrade in some areas will boost this place in a big way.

Room Tip: room 16 is the room we were in
