“Great place, unique opportunity, nice people”
Reviewed 4 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

I stayed at the guest house of La Rabouillere with my 12y/o daughter for a few days of March break, as a base for skiing at Bromont and other local activities.

The little house (on the property adjacent the farm) is great, and offered everything we needed and plenty more. Jeremie and his family were open and accommodating which made the stay easy and enjoyable. Having the farm next door added a fun and unique element too.

The main common area of the house affords plenty of space for the kitchen, dining, and sitting rooms. The loft bedroom is large and comfortable, with an attached sitting room and balcony. The main floor offers another separate room doubling as a living room and 2nd bedroom (pullout sofa).

Everything was clean, comfortable and in good condition. Nice bedding is provided. The kitchen is very well appointed, stocked with the requisite tools and even some basic food items (rice, sugar, oil...) The only thing I thought of to add is a bigger, all-weather entry-way rug - to reduce tracking snow/slush/dirt into the house.

The farm is quite large and includes a diverse collection of animals, which provides for great exposure and 'up-close-and-personal' animal contact. This is a 'working farm' not a 'hobby farm', so expect lots of animals (i.e. not named individuals - well, ok, WE may have given some of them names ;) ) and normal barn conditions. That said, there's a focus on petting zoo type stock (vs. cattle etc.), so there are critters here for everyone. We particularly enjoyed the lamas, goat kids, and a sweet baby donkey. We also had the amazing experience of watching piglets being born, and holding day-old bunnies.

Unfortunately we didn't have a chance to experience the restaurant, but look forward to having the opportunity to do so if we can return in the summer. Same with the pool and outdoor fireside sitting areas.

Things to be aware of when you go:
1.No internet.
2.The well-water is highly mineralized, but drinking water is provided.
3.This is an isolated location, which is great for getting away from 'civilization' - just plan for drives of 15-45min around the area for off-site activities/attractions.

Overall I can highly recommend this accommodation and farm experience. Great value and served us well as a base from which to explore Granby, Bromont etc.

“Accommodating owners with a quiet, spacious 'in-law' house on a huge family-run petting zoo & working farm attached to t”

Booking: TripAdvisor Vacation Rentals was easy. Made contact with owner minutes later. Owner is bilingual (English, French).

Location: In Sainte-Anne-de-la-Rochelle, Quebec. A 15-minute drive to Granby for any normal needs. Get groceries to prepare at the house, or visit the local restaurants.

Price: Doubtful you can find a better accommodation for the cost. Stayed extra nights for less than a room in a low-rated Granby motel.

Arrival: Greeted by owner and shown around the property as soon as we mentioned interest. Fed the deer and chickens, and saw the variety of animals they provide to zoos, parties, etc. Met his family, too.

Accommodation: House is complete with full kitchen containing tools & appliances, two sitting rooms with furniture & small TV, and a dining table. Multiple climate zones to set as desired. There is a 5-gallon water cooler provided due to high mineral content in tap (hot water smells heavily of iron).

Bed comfort: 4 out of 5 (almost floating softness with high count linens and down duvet). Queen size bed upstairs plus two twin futons and two sofas.

Parking: A residential driveway directly off the rural road.

Recommended For: Anyone, with or without children, who has an affinity for a variety of animals. Those wanting to stay in quiet, private house with access to a growing city.

ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT:
Amazingly none. Everything is provided except groceries and toiletries.

*Withholding interior photos for owner privacy but others posted are an accurate representation.
