On the Water Mill/Brisgehampton border, this shallow bay is bordered by private estate homes except where it is adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean. It is nice for small boating, paddle boarding, kayaking, windsurfing, and adjoins a public beach. It has ice boating during the winter. If it gets too high, Southampton Town Trustees dig a trench to let bay water and ocean water equalize.

Clean! Family friendly. Huge. Not crowded at all. Water was crystal clear. Beach is great. Life guards are attentive. Bathroom is small. Very tight but clean for a beach.

The only beach in Southampton Town where you can buy a daily parking pass all 7 days of the week. The cost is $25 per car, per day. Bathrooms and showers as well as ice cream, snacks, drinks and souvenir's. Chair, umbrella and boogie board rentals. This beach is not easy to find and is surrounded by multi million dollar homes. Bring everything you'll need with you, no stores are near by with the exception of the concession stand on site. No alcohol is served here and glass is not allowed on the beach. Open from Memorial Day thru Labor Day, parking lot fills up on weekends so getting here earlier as opposed to later is best. Lifeguards, parking lot attendants and concession only operate during Summer season.

For artists, Mecox Bay has long been a source of special interest: the mid-day light radiates a tone, charm and exuberance that is infectious. The brush stirs in your hand, like an uncontrollable impulse, tugging at one's creativity...this magical air, suddenly enlivened, an exogenous stimulant like few others in the artist's experience. On a summer day, wispy red clouds can alter color but not the air's dominant purity. Light is everywhere, often at dusk; rays of dimming light expose architectural as well as natural features unseen mere moments earlier. Mecox transforms itself, sometimes minute by minute; we stand there, sometimes breathlessly awed as if we are witnessing a phenomenon unique to this precious spot.
