After a scenic drive from Albuquerque to Chama, my family was delightfully welcomed by this cute home painted and decorated with our favorite colors: red, white & blue (we are a patriotic family). The inside of the house was equally charming with all the amenities we needed to have a comfortable stay. Sherri even had a bowl of fresh fruit waiting for us in the kitchen (nice touch!).
The living room was well furnished and arranged in such a way that every night we were able to have long family talks and tell ghost stories and sing a few songs for the kids before sending them off to bed. And the kids LOVED Buck, the singing deer mount in the living room. The front yard neighbors a low traffic street where we were able to throw a football around without any worries about getting hit by a car. The towels, bathroom, bedsheets and kitchen were clean. I had no worries about letting my kids walk around barefooted.
WALKING DISTANCE TO EVERYTHING that we needed to do this weekend. The Cumbres & Toltec Railroad was literally one block away. In the evening you can hear the train doing its thing. We walked there frequently to check out the train and the station. There are also several restaurants within 1- 2 blocks of this house (and more that are only a 2-3 minute drive away). We went to church at St. Patrick's which was only 2 minutes away by car. We didn't do much shopping while we were here, but we saw a few shops on the main strip which is only one block away.
When we left the house we accidentally forgot our daughter's jacket. Sherri mailed the jacket back to us immediately. Wow! Thank you Sherri for sharing your Chama treasure with us. Your house was an integral ingredient to the memories we formed this weekend. We hope to do this again soon! =)
