“Wondeful Experience at Villa Kelapa”
Reviewed 9 January 2015 for a stay in December 2014

I recently had my first ever trip to Bali and stayed at Villa Kelapa in Seminyak. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The villa is spectacular and located close to the centre of Seminyak. We were picked up at the airport as arranged and arrived quite late at night at the villa. We had a lovely Indonesian dinner waiting for us when we arrived.

The staff were second to none. They did everything for us and were so kind and polite. We had breakfast everyday of fresh fruit, juice, toast, eggs and tea and coffee. Indonesian breakfast was optional which we tried once and was great, but most of us were not into having a rice dish first thing in the morning. We ate dinner most evenings at the villa. The food was prepared by Made and was delicious and so cheap too.

Putu and Ilu looked after the rooms everyday. They made the beds and cleaned the bathrooms. They even washed and ironed our laundry. The afternoon and night staff were also very kind and polite and brought us fresh water when we returned from the hot day out and about. They would also make us coffee if we requested. A particular mention of Carlos who was such a kind, sweet gentleman. He was a gem.

The pool and garden was cleaned everyday and kept immaculately. A pool fence was installed when we were there, so the pool is safe for young children. The open living area was comfortable and very inviting. Our party consisted of 6 adults and 1 child, and we all enjoyed relaxing in the lounge area and hammocks. Other reviewers mentioned the mosquitoes so we came prepared. I'm normally a mosquito magnet but with adequate spray they were not an issue for our group. All the rooms had large mosquito nets above the beds and they worked very well. The traffic noise from the main bedroom was minimal I thought and it didn't affect my sleep too much. The only thing I noticed that caused some disturbance to sleep was stray cats fighting and being loud during the night, but this only happened once or twice during our 10 night stay.

Overall our party had an amazing time staying a Villa Kelapa and would absolutely recommend staying there to our friends and the public too. The location is great, the villa is a pure Balinese experience and the staff are a credit to the business. We will most definitely be back for another stay in the future.

“Calm atmosphere and good food.”
Reviewed 12 December 2014 for a stay in November 2014

We had a pleasant stay at Bali Villa Kelapa.
We especially enjoyed the delicious Indonesian food, prepared by the private cook, mr Putu.
There was some traffic noise in the morning in the master bathroom, but the three bedrooms and the living were very quiet, as was the garden> We had a good sleep on the perfect, romantic bed.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
All together we had a very pleasant stay and enjoyed the calm atmosphere of wonderful Villa Kelapa with its beautiful tropical garden, great swimming pool and friendly staff.

“Great position, great staff, great villa”
Reviewed 31 October 2014 for a stay in September 2014

Location is short walk to downtown Seminyak, the staff were really attentive - but not intrusive, the meals were ate in the villa were all very very good - why eat out when the food is better, fresher, more traditional and much cheaper than eating out. The space and the way the rooms and the main house are positioned gives all guests there privacy. I would recommend Villa Kelapa to family and friends. Pickup and drop off to the airport really takes the hassle out of your arrival and departure.

“It was like stepping into the scene in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory...into the Land of Can”
Reviewed 15 September 2014 for a stay in May 2014

There was only negative about staying at Villa Kelapa, and that was the mosquitoes, so if you tend to get bitten at home, make sure you bring bug spray or get down tot he convenient store ASAP to pick up a bottle - other than that, what a great experience for my first time in Bali. There were four of us staying there and there was more than enough room.

I'd love to tell you the story of booking Villa Kelapa - I was travelling with 4 other friends, two of which had already booked their accommodation in Seminyak. So, I needed to find a place for the rest of us to stay close to them - low and behold I stumbled on Villa Kelapa. I was impressed with their prices and pictures of the accommodation - so I booked it. It wasn't however until after I booked and paid that I realized the whole complex was going to be ours, and we weren't sharing with other travelers (a party per bungalow).
Then, when we were driving from the airport, and we were pulling into the side street, my friends looked at me with a wary eye - there were no other hotels or villas, no restaurants, not much but a corner shop and a few family owned businesses. Then we pulled into the driveway, where a barbed wire gate had to be opened to let the car through, and as we got out, we saw a tiny little door in a concrete archway, and again my friends looked at me cautiously, one even whispering 'what have you gotten us into'. But, as the door opened, it was like stepping into the scene in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory where Wonka opens the door into the Land of Candy - it was like a different place inside. Trees and plants everywhere, an enormous pool (which the photos don't do justice), and clean, air conditioned rooms, with outdoor bathrooms.

Staff were ready to go out of there way to help us, even doing our washing for us - all we had to do was put it in the washing basket. We had no issues getting around, with Carlos showing us the ropes on how to order a taxi and the airport transport waiting for us when we arrived. Villa Kelapa was only a 15-20 minute taxi ride to Legian/Kuda, and shopping and dinning in Seminyak was brilliant. If you're not wanting to travel to Kuda for lunch/dinner, try The Deck - really good prices, great food and drinks, pool tables, sports bar, and please try their chocolate fondant - wow! There is also Taco Beach Grill - I swear I've never had such awesome food at prices like theirs.

All in all I had a great time at Villa Kelapa and will definitely stay again.
