My wife and I just enjoyed four days and three nights at the Castle at Skylands Manor. We stayed in Gatsby room 212, and it was beyond my expectation. Extraordinarily spacious and comfortable with old school charm and character Three closets, a sitting room and large spacious bathroom. You can expect some quirks as you might find in an historic home--for example, it takes 10-15 minutes to get hot water. We found this to be a funny part of our adventure in staying in a castle, but something you need to plan for. It's not a big deal at all, just know what to expect. The entire manor is extremely private and nestled on beautiful grounds with easy access to everything New York City has to offer (driving or by train from Suffern, NY--we did both--and it was equally easy to do both). When we arrived, we had no idea what we would be doing, but our innkeeper, Kelly, was extremely helpful. She made a suggestion that led us to a marvelous adventure including touring the nearby village of Warwick, NY, a trip to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, Coney Island, Chinatown, Little Italy, Times Square, and a final evening seeing "Phantom of the Opera" on Broadway. Thank you Kelly for your recommendations! We had an amazing adventure thanks to you! :) There are many other wonderful and gorgeous natural things to see that are low-key in the area including: the gorgeous grounds surrounding the castle, large and beautiful lakes for outdoor recreation, and beautiful views of the greater Hudson Valley nearby. I highly recommend this facility and would give it more than 5 stars if I could. :) Thanks again! We WILL be back.
