Good clean fun!

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 22 Jun 2023via mobile
I have been coming to this motel since I was a kid. It has close proximity to the beach and board walk- you can’t get much closer! Room and pool were clean. They allow you to use their facilities before checkin and all day after you check out- for parking, bathroom, outdoor shower, and pool.
Date of stay: June 2023
Room Tip: They no longer provide beach passes, so calculate that into your expenses.

Point Beach Motel is located one block away from the beach and from Jenkinson's Boardwalk. Our second floor room had a refrigerator and a microwave, but no coffee maker. We were there off season, so there was no noise from the boardwalk rides. The Trenton side of the motel is away from the pool side which can be noisy. There is a medium-size heated pool. The motel has good wi-fi. Our reservation was confirmed by e-mail and we had no problem checking in. When checking out, there was no one in the office; we had to leave our keys in a box. However, we had no problem with our bill.
(FYI:The air conditioner was on the loud side.)

Room tip: Trenton side of motel, 2nd floor

WE go as a group of Several moms and kids every year. We stay at Point Beach. Very close to beach, boardwalk and amusements. Rooms are okay. Just beds and bathroom. Refrigerator. Nothing fancy. Paying for proximity to beach. but it works for us. We go back every year.

Unfortunately this hotel has the worst customer service. The hotel manager, Caren, who has been there for 31 years was not able to take ownership or even apologize for an error she made. I called on the phone and booked a stay for 2 nights. They snail mailed a paper home with the room reservation (they are archaic and do not use email for confirmations). The room reservation on the paper said one night. When I called, Caren was not there but the person who worked at night, held the last room they had for us for the second night and said we need to speak to Caren about the mixup when we got to the hotel. Well when we saw Caren the next day, she was a very disgruntled woman, who said it was impossible that she made a mistake and it was my error for not checking the paper. Well guess what, I did check the paper, I called to correct the error and then told I still needed to speak to her about it so there I was. She was angry, she offered us another room with only one bed, and said, “whatever, take it or leave it.” Ummm....I don’t believe that is how you treat a customer. Even after I told her that is not how she would want to be treated at an establishment, she said, “I don’t believe I am wrong.” Needless to say, we won’t be staying there again.

Please be careful when booking a reservation at this hotel. We booked our room for two nights and they do not do email confirmation. We received a confirmation by mail and when we opened it we saw it was only for one night. We called the hotel they took no ownership and blamed it on us. We have two small children and they said they could give us a different room for the second night and have our children sleep on cots. The room could barely accommodate one cot. A second would leave no space to walk to the restroom. When addressing our concerns with the hotel manager (Karen) She could care less about the mixup and continue to blame it on us. She even use the term “whatever, it is what it is” when speaking with us. My wife was very upset and she said there was nothing that she could do and we should just take it or leave it. I understand that these hotels during the warmer months have a high demand for rooms however, you can’t treat people this way! we decided not to stay for the second night in this hotel and we will pay more to stay at another hotel that has the proper accommodations for me and my family.

Megan,I was there that night also. You and your wimp husband were something else! There was a huge storm and the entire town was without power ! Yet your weak husband was running around like a little girl demanding to know exactly what time the power would be restored. Really dude ? It was out only for under 3 hours. We all went on the sundeck and had cocktails and appetizers, some played cards we had a ball ! Also I heard you Megan while trying to get your money back, ha ha, mention you were a diabetic and needed to keep your medicine refrigerated, obviously another lie since you neglected to mention that in your rant ! Also if you and your family have stayed there for years, you must love it ! What changed ?? The power went out and now it's a terrible motel ?? I'm sure after the scene you two made, you and your family won't be welcome back! Good luck somewhere else ! And tell your husband to toughen up . . Jeez. . Life is short, make the best of it !!!
