Without a doubt, this is absolutely the worst facility that we have ever booked. We arrived around 10:00PM and were met by an outdoor party going on at the restaurant next door. The music was so loud that we could hear it sitting inside the Burger King down the street. I asked the clerk what time it would shut down and he said that it most likely was a private event and it could be midnight or later until it was over. That was the first clue that I should run. The clerk did say that our room was “over there” and pointed away from the restaurant and said that we shouldn’t hear the music. Just to clarify, we had been up for 21 hours due to a flight from Europe, so we were looking forward to a quiet night’s rest enroute home. I officially checked in and decided to look at the room before dragging the luggage up a flight of stairs. Clue #2 was walking past a room with the door wide open and seeing a large black dog being washed in the bathtub. Clue #3 was the music coming from room 266. It was almost as loud as the music from the party at the restaurant. Clue #4 was the party going on in the motel’s parking lot. Adults, children, and babies outside hanging around cars pulling in and out of the lot.
Enough is enough. I went back to the office and told the clerk that I can’t stay in a place like this and I’d like my money back. I think he saw the look of despair on my face, and after a few minutes of discussion about the booking, he agreed and said I would get a refund. I just can’t, for the life of me, understand how the Motel 6 gets five-star ratings.
