The nightmare at The DoubleTree Hotel.

1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 20 Jul 2024
Had to change our room 4 times. This hotel is extremely run down its 40 years old. 1st room very noisy, 2nd room daughter fell off the bed, 3rd time went to pick my luggage up and the bottom was soaking wet and so were my clothes. My daughter was constantly sneezing from the wet dirty carpet that stunk. 4th room was just old and outdated. The bottom of the bathroom door was severely peeling up. Took pictures. The A/C would kick on and off all nite long with a loud noise. One time 3 am it was hot and called front desk and they sent someone up. The Manager said he would give us our money back but we couldn't contact the agency where we purchased the trip from. I must compliment the 2 gentleman in the breakfast area. They were very sincere and helpful. I stayed here 15 years ago and it was nice and clean. It was a terrible experience. After all this aggravation they gave us the breakfast. First of all I read that it was included with our room. I feel like we should be refunded all our money.

We’ve stayed here a few times. Hotel is nice. Room are nice. Few touch ups need to be done like paint in the bathroom. Didn’t like that a few times our room smelled like cigarette. We ate in the lounge. Very good food. Dean our bartender was out standing sweetest man ever. We are definitely missing him. It was so kind so pleasant and friendly he was like family

The room we were initially given had no AC, the mechanic came and confirmed. Went to front desk, staff were super unhelpful and unfriendly, managed to get a different room. New room had no AC once again, confirmed by mechanic. Had to fight with staff for a new room. Did end up getting a new room. The tub leaked. Only the front lobby is nice, the rest of the hotel looks super outdated and run down. It offers a pool, but it’s been closed since COVID and no one has bothered to update the website. The hotel is about a 12 minute walk to a bus stop, but you have to walk beside the highway, avoiding tons of broken glass, then run across a highway, go down a hill also covered in broken glass, then continue to the bus stop. The hotel also tacks on an extra charge per night for just existing in the building. The breakfast is garbage and is supe expensive. Don’t go here, find a different hotel. It’s not worth it.

Room tip: Don’t stay there.

We stayed at this four star hotel last night and went to American Dream whole day today. After dinner we came back exhausted for rest and we realized one of the beds was not cleaned at all, even though the tip put on the table was taken, I’m not sure this is on purpose or was some kind of silly mistake. Just can’t believe such issue in a four star hotel. Maybe the place should be three star but over rated.

Room tip: If you look for a better quality stay, this may not be a good choice

Nope! Old, small and ugly. Desk staff that could care less if your alive (might be a NJ thing). No hot water for shower at 9:30 am. $25.00 for a breakfast buffet. Dreary small rooms. Old, depressing carpet. Old furniture, old air conditioning, really awful industrial location. The traffic right out in front of the hotel is horrendous. No microwave. When asked front desk said "you can try asking the restaurant". Toilet seat was replaced with a much larger that original and doesn't work well.

Look for other options, there are other better options………..

The hotel front desk staff was friendly as we would expect from Hilton hotels front desk, but no extra nice surprises for Diamond member😉.
The hotel itself is OLD and needed updated fixture. The window curtain has tears and falling apart. The fixtures in the room are outdated.
We were updated to executive floor room; however, the executive lounge is still closed due to COVID🙄🙄🙄. Even for double beds at executive floor room, the room size is very small. The door for the bathroom is old and chipping apart.
We had dinner and breakfast at the lobby restaurant. We had chicken wings, lamb and duck. They were tasty. Three of us spend $165 before taxes; the bill came with 20% of tips added. We are a bit surprised by that since it was only 3 of us, not a large group of people. Although we normally would give more than 20% tips, but we do not like the waiter just added the 20% to the bill so just gave him what he added🤷🏻‍♀️.
Breakfast buffet costs 24.99/pp. but only offer similar items you wiuld get from Hampton Inn free breakfast so would not recommend to anyone.

There were a lot of parking space. The bedding did not have any funky smell and seems to be very clean. These are about the two things i like about this stay.

Room tip: Avoid arrive at around rush hour. It will take forever to get into parking because highway ramp traffic jam.
