We called prior to booking this stay and asked about and early check in as my family and I was traveling from a different state. Our flight arrived after 7 in the morning and we got to the hotel around 8:30 am . When we approached the front desk and skinny Asian looking guy was sitting in the back office and it too him about 5 mins to address us . After finally coming to see what we wanted he told him that we were here to check in , he explain that there was no room available, we explain to him that we had called and even made a notation on the reservation to check in early so how soon can we be checked in after Check out … we said not until 2 pm , check out was at 11 . I said I am willing to pay for an early check in so can I get a room any sooner as we were tired and traveling to attend an even early the next morning .She said no .. but also went on to telling me that anytime before 4 I still have to pay $60 for early check in fee. After sitting in the lobby for almost 4 hours a group of guys walked in at around 12 pm and asked for early check in and without hesitation they were told yes and allowed to be checked in while we were still waiting , i then approached the desk n asked again can I be check in and another agent who was working was kind enough to assist us . I paid the early check in fee and was given a room . Was not the cleanest but the housekeeper who was superb was kind enough to change the sheets on the bed .On the third day of our stay we went to the dining area to get a plate to warm leftovers in the microwave and we stopped in the hallway by the same Asian looking guy and asked what room we were, without even asking if we were having breakfast we were told that it was $25 per person , we told him that we just wanted two plates to use in the microwave and he wasn’t willing to loan us a plate … instead he went to the kitchen and got us to go foil boxes and we told him that we cannot use those in a microwave, he still hesitated to give us plates asking if we could just use one … in which we replied that it was 4 of us so two would be preferred and we will return it as soon as we were finish .. in which we did .Base on the customer service experience I would not encourage anyone to stay at this property especially if you are black .The housekeeper was the kindest person to us throughout our stay … she is superb, 10th floor housekeeper

This is a gross hotel. Out of date and smelly. When we checked in one of the pillows on our bed still had someone else’s makeup on it. Gum matted into the carpet by the desk. The only reason we booked this hotel was for the shuttle in Manhattan but WRONG. they don’t offer it anymore. They have info for a private shuttle co you can use but it only goes at 9am returning at 8p and is 30 pp. do yourselves a favor and book elsewhere.

I selected this rating because Room 1506 A/C wasn't working properly for 4 days. The room wasn't cooling below 80°. I address the issue with management and he promised that it would be fixed by the end of the day but it wasn't. Again this went on for the entire stay.

I've stayed at this DoubleTree several times when driving to NYC for business. It is located just off the highway, several gas stations are close by, free parking (yes, free!), safe for solo travelers and easy for Uber pick up/drop off.
The dining room (breakfast and dinner) and bar have good selection and are very reasonably priced. If you don't want to drive in and out of the city and don't mind using Uber or Lyft, this is a great spot with easy freeway access for the business traveler.

Staff are very attentive and welcoming, incredibly helpful when needing recommendation for navigating the local area/city. Check in/out very easy.

Rooms could use a refresh, but comfortable nonetheless.

Room tip: If you're driving in, top of the tank at one of the 3 gas stations just before the hotel. It will make departure easier and faster.

I'm adding a new review here as someone who goes to this hotel every few weeks. I they have noticed a few of the same things that others have noticed here in the reviews...but this issue is one that will only go downhill. Doubletree needs to get things in shape there ASAP..... If you're going to a Yankee game then this is the perfect location to stay at. However, if you're staying on the upper floor (15) there's a very distinct odor in some of the rooms. I know the smell to be of rodent droppings/leavings because my office building had the same smell before they renovated it. Doubletree tried covering up the smell in my room with some sort of perfume before I entered but after a few minutes, the smell was apparent and I needed a different room (12th floor)..the next room wasnt as bad but still smelled similiar... I'm actually a hilton honors member but in my experience if you smell rodents, you're going to eventually see them....... There is a Hyatt next door that I'm not a fan of (tiny, crappy bar and pay for parking last time I went) but I may have to consider that....

Room tip: Parking is free.....this location is good for Met Life and Yankee Stadium.

Booked a room at this hotel for 4 nights. Checkin was quick and pleasant.
They offer an allergen free cookie as a substitution for their normal cookies, if asked.
The front desk staff, the breakfast attendants, and almost every member of staff we encountered were beyond friendly. They went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of.
Breakfast cost was included in the cost of our room, so that was a plus.
The restaurant staff at night seemed to be bothered by us wanting to eat at 9pm. The server was curt when we asked about gluten free option and we were never given any refills. The food was absolutely amazing.
The hotel is older and the wear shows:
-Paint peeling in the hallways above the elevators.
-carpet was worn in the room
-Missing ceiling tiles in the pool area and water damage around the skylight which is completely covered in plastic.
-The hot tub was out of order
Despite that, the rooms were clean.
There was no DND sign for us to put out so we informed the Front desk that we did not need service. This was not communicated to the housekeeping staff and they came every day to clean up.
Parking was included and there was never an issue in finding a spot.
