New Jersey Work Trip

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 12 Jun 2024
Everything was perfect but I didn’t realize that they do not do housekeeping everyday. I had to ask for my room to be serviced.

Aside from that, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable as always and the pillows very fluffy. As a diamond member, they also brought snack everyday to my room.

I stayed at this hotel for the 1st time. My check-in experience was seamless. Jeremy at the front desk was very nice and helpful and provided great customer service
I came into town a little earlier than 3 pm and was able to check in early.
The hotel was very clean, and the room was comfortable.
Easy access to all major highways.
The breakfast was good also.
I will add this hotel to my list when visiting NJ.

I recently had the opportunity to stay at 2 Aimbridge Properties, one in NYC ( Marriott Courtyard Megan Wright GM) and most recently the Hilton Garden Inn at the Raritan Center in New Jersey GM Dontavius Richardson and experienced excellent service during our stays at both properties .

We were attending a large family function close to the Holton Garden Inn and the GM was reachable and we were provided great rooms in an otherwise very busy weekend (a dog contest). We took the snack upgrade room and had snacks for our stay.

GM Richardson also took the time to explain Hilton’s new policy for Gold Members in not providing a free breakfast but $10 per room per occupant and we found this a much better arrangement as we were not limited to breakfast (which was covered a la carte) but for other meals, snacks and/or drinks.

From entering the front desk to exiting we were constantly made to feel welcome from Deli to Jeremy and Christine and to the housekeeping staff who were always around to provide extra items to service the room.

The gymnast was great with everything needed for a work out

The breakfast and dinner menus were more than adequate, service was great and prices reasonable.

As I mentioned the location was perfect for us and in addition Menlo Park Mall was close by for great shopping as well as fine dining.

We had a great stay and would highly recommend this property as I would other Aimbridge managed properties. Thank you GM Richardson and staff for a very pleasant stay.

I would remind my other guests that while not requested, please remember to provide gratuities for the excellence service received by staff.

Pros

Very nice and accommodating staff - Jeremy, at the front desk. Nora, at the breakfast set up, and Casey, at the bar.

Very dog friendly. Well lit areas for doggie care, providing poop bags as well.

Ample parking.

Cons

You would not want to walk barefoot on the room carpets. Stains on room sofa. Also, we were told cleaning service was on the alternate days. However, when we returned to our room at 4 pm, on day 3, the room had still not been cleaned. Overflowing trash. In room coffee for arrival day only.

Fake wood cabinetry peeling off, with sharp edges. Heating system needs updating. Entire hotel is well past the need for refurbishing. Modest breakfast, in corner of lobby, is not included with the room.

Room tip: Bring slippers.

Bit of a mixed bag. The property is comfortable as it is casual, just off the turnpike and in a cluster of hotels that cater to a sprawling business park and nearby Edison. Rooms are comfortable and hotel is clean, but things have clearly seen better days. From a painfully slow lift to scuffed and tattered furniture, everything feels like it was last fresh in 2005. Disappointingly, housekeeping was request only and my request was ignored - aircon did not work properly and toiletries left empty. More optimistically, rooms are large and the bar is a welcome amenity.

I wouldn’t avoid it, per se, but there is a painful need for investment and complete refurbishment.

Room tip: Free parking is a nice perk

Stayed for a few nights for a meeting in the hotel. Checkin could have been smoother. Mobile checkin and digital key request failed because of the way the reservation was made? Didn’t understand the issue, that has never been an issue before. The room was mostly quiet, facing away from highway. Hallway and neighboring room were noticeably loud when occupied with talkers.
The lobby pantry was nearly empty the first night, thwarting any attempt at a quick snack. It was restocked the next day. They have a cookie jar out on the reception desk, but they were all welded together making it impossible to get one without breaking them.
Bad location for any dining options without a car. My one experience at the bar was unwelcoming and off putting. Overcharged me on the room rate during checkout, but they did correct it. So, check your bill!!

Room tip: Get a room facing away from the highway!
