Three Cheers for Charles!

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 23 Oct 2024
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The standout star of our stay was the hotel's restaurant. This might sound unusual but it isn't. What made the restaurant tops on our list - the gentleman who ran it - Charles! I watched him the first morning we were there. He gave the 2 men ahead of us a big smile and a wave good morning! They acknowledged him and went about their conversation. There was Charles in the background watching to see if they needed anything. He gave us the same attention. On day two of our stay, we got the big smile and wave good morning! Now that my friends is real CUSTOMER SERVICE! I made a point of letting management know of his awesome service and told them that they were lucky to have a man like Charles on their team! I would stay there again just to see Charles once again. Hotels sometimes seem like just a place to stay when traveling, but a guy like Charles makes a stay special. Thanks so much Charles for making our stay just a little extra special!

The only good things about this place are the pillows and beds. That's the only reason for the 1 star.

Front desk refused to put the breakfast vouchers in our welcome bags for daughters wedding. Our guests requested them at check in (as we were told to tell our guests by the front desk) and were told there were no more available. What??? Groom was told the same thing the morning of the breakfast. I (mother of the bride) went to the front desk and asked. Was rudely told by the girl that she already told the groom she didn't have anymore. I asked her then if it was free since they couldn't "find" any. She went to her manager and returned with some cards. Do your job!!! Ok, now the wedding is over and I've been charged for 5 extra meals.

Same morning, BEFORE we checked out, our food was taken by housekeeping from our refrigerator. We went down for breakfast around 9:00 and returned at 10:00. Our room had been cleaned and food was gone. Food that I paid for. No excuse for this happening.

I also sent over a credit card authorization a week before arrival for the front desk to charge for my daughters room. When the card hadn't been charged the day before arrival I called the front desk. Girl told me it was taken care of. It was not. Daughter was surprised when her card was charged for the stay. Again, not a big deal but do your job and don't lie. No one needs the extra stress when you've got a wedding.

Bellman (for lack of a better word), was EXTREMELY rude to my husband. At check in we needed a luggage cart/rack. None were to be found. When the "houseman" (which is what i think his cart said) returned with one, he yelled at my husband to make sure he brought is back. Like we were going to keep it in our room.

Lest we forget the air conditioner cycling on and off with a loud thump every 5 minutes all night. God speed if you're a light sleeper.

And make sure you get a parking spot and don't move your car. The parking lot situation is a disaster.

For a Sheraton this is unacceptable. They need to get their front desk some training. They were all terrible. I don't know the name of the elderly gentleman running the breakfast but he was a great guy. They need more employees like him.

I did email the general manager of the property. She got back to me only after I emailed corporate. Agreed to refund me for the 5 extra people I was charged for breakfast and agreed to "return" the $70 for my missing food. Still waiting for that refund...general manager claims she "doesn't know how she can refund my card, needs to talk to accounting. You we're quick to charge the card, get me my refund, it's really not that hard. I won't hold my breath

Room tip: The air conditioning is terribly loud and cycles on and off every 4 minutes. Front desk help is terrible. Need extensive training.

Needs new management. Completely a mess. Do not stay or work at this establishment. New hires aren’t trained at all and will immediately put out on register, often times alone. The phone rings constantly at the front desk and they don’t have a room coordinator to pick up the phone, so most of the front desk is on the phones while real customers are standing in front of them. I left my toiletry bag in our room and called the same day that we checked out. I gave them our room number and exactly where I left it. I was told they could not check for me. I called every day for 3 days straight and was ultimately told they didn’t have it and “the next guests probably took it” even though I originally called before the next guests would even check in l. I was told that housekeeping “wouldn’t” take it. I left a message for the general manager who couldn’t be bothered to call me back.

Very nice one night stay for visit to Jersey Shore. Staff was very nice, had very comfortable extra large queen rooms. Room was very clean and bedding was very comfortable. There weren’t many hotels in the area and this was a great choice. Hope to stay here again next year.

There are not many nice hotel chain options near the Jersey shore, and this is certainly the best one. I stay here year after year and overall, it’s a great property. However, each annual visit for three years straight, I have contacted management about the same issue. Therefore, I think this time I need to post photos in an effort to get this rectified. The pool is awful and almost unusable. The outdoor section of the pool looks as if it has mold growing up and down the walls. Things happen and it’s understandable for a pool to get dirty periodically. However, three years later, the front desk management is still being alerted about the same exact issue. Can you please clean your pool so that your paying (and titanium) guests can utilize it? Especially on 4th of July weekend!

Room tip: Dirty pool Club lounge has complimentary wine!
