We met friends at Town Diner for dinner. We asked why there? They said they eat breakfast and lunch there all the time and like the food. It is a pity they didn't have dinner there.
We waited a few minutes to be seated. We were immediately given a dish of garlic knots. Our server took our soft drink orders and gave us time to decide on our meals. Three of us ordered the pan fried calf's liver with bacon and onions in a sherry sauce. Two of the meals were pronounced"OK. One of the liver dishes had 3 pices of liver that had so many veins it couldn't be cut with a chain saw. After showing the dish to the server,it was replaced. The replacement was marginally better. I ordered the "roast turkey" plate which I thought was a safe choice.Wrong! The turkey was boiled and covered with a tasteless sauce and over a thin, pasty stuffing. The best item on the plate was the tasteless steamed vegetables. After dinner,we ordered coffee. I have never had a bad cup of coffee at any New Jersey diner I have been to.....'til this time.
If I ever eat there again it will not be for dinner.
