“The Perfect Place for a Girls' Getaway”
Reviewed 15 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

My high school friends and I are celebrating a big birthday this year and we wanted to spend the weekend together. After tossing around a couple of ideas - one friend's house in New England (too far), NYC (too expensive) - we settled on renting a house in the charming seaside town of Cape May, New Jersey.

As I always do when planning a trip, I searched Trip Advisor's list of rentals and found the perfect place. There are 6 of us, so having a place where we each could have our own bedroom was ideal. This house has everything we wanted - it's close to the beach and to the central business area without being in the middle of all of the chaos, it has a large communal space and lots of great outdoor areas (we spent most of the time on the front porch, but there is a deck and a grassy area in the back as well), it is well stocked with essential kitchen equipment, utensils and other eating/cooking necessities and comes with that great Victorian charm that is a must in a town such as Cape May.

The price was very reasonable, although we did stay off season. The owner was easy to work with and was responsive to email and telephone queries. There were really only 3 drawbacks. One is that there are only 2 full bathrooms that 6 of us had to share; but since we were only there for 2 nights, it wasn't a problem. A longer stay might be a bit more challenging for a large group. Another is that we had to supply our own sheets and towels. We knew that in advance and it wasn't an issue for us because we all were driving. But if you are traveling there by train, plane or bus, that could present a packing challenge! Finally, although the location is great, the house does sit on a busy street and two of the first floor bedrooms are on that side of the house. We were there off season, so there wasn't a lot of traffic on the street. But I can see that it could be a bit noisy during the height of the season.

All of that said, we had a wonderful time and decided we would make this an annual event - hopefully at the same house!

“The Perfect home away from home”
Reviewed 5 November 2014 for a stay in October 2014

We travelled from Ireland (my husband, my mother in law and myself), to visit family. I decided to book somewhere nice, for a few days away together. After a lot of online searching I decided to visit Cape May, it didn't take long to choose this house, as it looked amazing, and it certainly didn't disappoint! Sue was so helpful, her replies were always very prompt and she had lots of helpful advice about the area and things to do. The minute we stepped inside we felt at home. Everything is catered for. The family members we brought with us were not disappointed, they loved it too! If we are lucky enough to return to Cape May again, we will most definitely book this perfect home away from home!

Sue was wonderful to deal with, was prompt in her replies and was incredibly accommodating. The house is bright and spacious - perfect for our extended family (including four babies). We would definitely return!
