Took my daughter to celebrate her 21st birthday. Have stayed at the Flamingo maybe a half dozen times over the last 20 years. Really, it's been the location that has driven the decision to stay there. But, after this stay, will not come back.
The good:
-The location, center strip, close to some of the bigger hotels and the promenade, big win.
-The bellhops/luggage storage crew were fantastic. Ironic though that the only people we came into contact with that really stood out as exceptional, were working on tips only. The manager at check in was helpful as we waited in line after having had the kiosk fail us and was able to get us checked in, saving us an hour or so.
The bad:
-She's showing her age & with the rumours of her impending demise, I think the maintenance has been cut back. Examples:
-See photo of the cupboard doors where the fridge is located, bad water damage, makes a horrible first impression
-Cleanliness, see photo of the used mask that was found sitting on the desk lamp. Sorry, what? ew.
-The sliding door to the bathroom doesnt actually cover the entire doorway, there will be gaps on either side, like inches. My 21 year old was NOT happy about this, at all.
-The pillows, two small sad pillows per bed. My recommendation, when you check in, ask them right away to send you more.
The ugly:
-Do you like to take a hot shower in the morning? I do. Don't plan on being able to do that here. Night one, after a long day of travel, hitting the trip in 100 degree weather, we both wanted to shower. 10 minutes running it full hot, it eventually got to luke warm. The next morning, started luke warm, and went too cold on me. I went down to the front desk to ask for help, they told me the best they could do was to send engineering, the desk clerk called to put a ticket in, and right in front of me said, yeah, water temp coming and going as usual. As a token of appreciation, she said the best they could do was to offer me $22.50 credit for the shower problem. Engineering came up, turned it on, it got hot enough, yeah, old building, its supply and demand, sometimes you need to wait half an hour or more for it to heat up. Next morning, it simply never warmed up, 20 minutes. Back to front desk, clerk got me manager, who offered us another room, in teh same tower, but said, its not going to be better. But, we can give you a $50 food and beverage credit for your inconvienence. I rejected that as we didnt plan to eat there, and asked to be moved to another caesars property that had working showers, sorry, we cant do that, but we will waive your resort fee. Ok, hopefully youve waived them all at this point. No, we can only waive the one that has posted to your account. Come back if it doesnt get better, you can go to in house services so you dont have to stand in this line. Next morning, same same, went down, spent an hour at in house services before giving up without getting to talk to anyone, regretted not going through check in.
-Checked out through the TV, but have not seen a statement of charges, not during check out or by email after. I have noticed that the charges posted to my credit card exceeded the three nights resort fees that were put on as a hold. Im going to give them a couple days then will call to ask for an explanation.
-The nightstand between the two queen beds had plugs/USB ports on each side which was really nice to see, would have been better if the one on my side had been functional. The USB ports, actually had nothing inside them, just rectangular openings. One of the two 110 outlets was messed up, and wouldn't accept a charger, bare metal (electrically charged, i will try to post the video that shows the sparking when i try to insert my charger) perilously close to being easily contacted by bare skin. I raised this on morning one, but they did not seem to think it was worth attending to.
