On our fourth trip to Las Vegas since 2018, my husband and I wanted to try something different. We had previously stayed at the Cosmopolitan but were ready to venture out, so after some back and forth, we booked a Parlor Suite at Wynn. We traveled for my husband's birthday in mid-March 2024 and stayed for four nights. Spoiler: Wynn is fantastic. If possible, stay in the Tower Suites. The level of service is outstanding. (We hold no status and are no high rollers--we were just "normal guests.")
First Impression. It's hard to beat the first impression of hospitality you get when driving up at Wynn. We had a relatively early flight and probably arrived at the hotel just before 11 a.m. The driveway itself is pristine, and the landscaping is beautiful. The moment the car pulled up (we used Kaptyn, which is also highly recommended), bell staff walked towards the car, greeted us, and asked if we wanted help with the luggage. Doors were opened, and we were pointed to the Tower Suites Reception.
Check-In. This was one of the most impressive check-ins we have ever experienced at a hotel. If you are researching Wynn, you probably already know that this property has two towers, Wynn and Encore. While Encore is an all-suites property, we decided on Wynn because all rooms and suites on this side were renovated about two years ago, and we love a new hotel room. Wynn itself has two "sides," each with its own check-in area. The Tower Suites have their own entrance (yes, with the koi pond). The moment we stepped into the Tower Suites reception area, we were approached by an employee who wanted to make sure that we were in the right area for our stay and who whisked us away immediately to a check-in desk (there was literally zero wait at that time). We were asked if we would like some water, and when we answered in the affirmative, a small tray appeared immediately with two small bottles of water and two hot washcloths. Based on past experiences with loud music after hours at another hotel, we asked if we could get a room away from nightclub noise and were assured that this would be no problem. We were also asked if we wanted to upgrade (for a fee) to the next-level Salon Suite, but we were happy with our decision on the Parlor and so denied. Since it was too soon to get into our suite, we were told we'd receive a text when we could pick up the keys. We then dropped off our luggage at the bell desk and went for a walk. (Note: luggage is stored in a basement room and not just behind the desk, so there is a short wait if you want to pick up your luggage instead of having it brought to your room later.)
Location. We hesitated to "move" from center strip, where we had previously stayed, to the north end, but we should not have worried. Wynn is just a short walk away from The Venetian and across the street from the Fashion Show Mall. Even without hiking to Caesars or Bellagio, there is plenty to look at nearby. We did walk to Mandalay Bay and back one day, but you can easily take the monorail, one of several connecting trams, or an Uber to get around--or a combination of those.
The Suite. Our suite was ready for us at least an hour before regular check-in time. Big thanks to Merrie and Marcie for again making this a delightful experience. (Merrie was the employee who first greeted us in the Tower Suites Lobby, and I would speak with her on another few occasions during our stay. She made me feel as if she were looking out for us.) Once we had our keys, we rode the elevator to the 27th floor. (Tower Suites has guests scan their keys at a small desk for added security.) As soon as we opened the door, I knew we had been given the wrong room--this was the next-level Salon Suite we had turned down! But a quick check with Merrie confirmed that we were not in the wrong room and had indeed been given a complimentary upgrade. This made our stay extra special. The Salon Suite is a generous 1800 square feet--you can view the footprint on the resort's website. I have attached a few photos of the living room, view from the room, and bathroom amenities. The rooms are tasteful--the author of an article I read somewhere stated that the interior designer wanted to achieve the feel of a private residence instead of a hotel room or suite, and this felt a bit like staying at the city dwelling of a fantastically wealthy and generous friend or family member. Don't underestimate the fun of using voice controls via the Alexa device in the room to play music, open the curtains and sheers, and adjust the lighting! I'm going to run out of space here, so I'll spare you the interior design details. Seating is plentiful and comfortable. The granite wet bar in the living room holds heavy whisky tumblers as well as wine glasses. A full-size guest fridge is available for your own things in addition to the mini bar. The bed is a California King, and it really was amazingly comfortable. The marble bathroom is a showstopper with his-and-hers closets and sinks and oversized shower and tub. As part of staying in this Tower Suite, we had two complimentary bottles of water on the wet bar every day, plus a $50 breakfast credit that was good until 12 noon in several cafes and restaurants (we always went to Al Teatro for to-go coffee and treats).
The Resort. Everything at Wynn is opulent, beautiful, and luxurious and appears custom-made. There is plenty of shopping--all designer labels if that's your scene--and then the gift shop and the golf shop for mere mortals like us. Even the paper used for receipts is thicker than everywhere else. The casino was busy, but not overcrowded. We're not big gamblers, but I played a roulette slot for a while, and a cocktail waitress stopped by almost right away. Full disclosure on casino drink service: we overheard a nearby guest thanking a manager for sending over the waitress; the guest explained that he had waited for an hour just to ask for a couple of waters. When I asked for a club soda, the waitress brought a small bottle of Perrier almost immediately--but when I tried to tip her, she already disappeared with a quick "Good luck" wish. Since we knew from the other guest that he had waited for a long time for his drinks, we did not take this personally and chalked it up to the waitress who may have had a bad day and/or was untrained. For the rest of our stay, we took a lot of drinks from the Tower Suites bar to our room, but I'd like to explore some other bars during a future stay. The Overlook Lounge is amazingly pretty, and Parasol Bar looked interesting and great for people watching. The pool area was beautifully landscaped, and the "European style pool" is truly that--tops optional, cell phones therefore not allowed.
Food. We went for coffee at Al Teatro every morning, and the coffee was very good. They also serve a variety of sweet and savory (but pretty much all high carb) breakfast options. The nice thing is that you can use your daily $50 food credit for Wynn-branded chocolate as well, which makes for great souvenirs for friends and family. We can highly recommend Wing Lei. Amazing dining experience from start to finish. We shared the pork belly and the Peking Duck, which was served with mandarin pancakes, julienned veggies, and hoisin sauce. Dessert was a mango rice pudding; in addition, the restaurant served complimentary amuse bouches and petits fours. They even gave us a gift bag with tea cakes for the next day! Another evening, we ate at Lakeside. We sat outside and got to watch a part of one of the "lake of dreams" shows, with the frog singing "New York, New York." It was cute, and you'll be delighted if you can catch it. The food was excellent; we had tuna tartar and octopus for appetizers and Alaskan cod and some other amazing dish with a cream sauce whose name I have forgotten.
Service. I want to highlight this because the service was so consistently solid. No matter what area of the resort, the staff were professional, friendly, and outright welcoming. Starting with the bell staff, receptionists, housekeeping, bartenders, and wait staff in several restaurants, the level of service at Wynn was outstanding. One small example I want to highlight is related to housekeeping. Wynn famously has huge, square "Euro-style" pillows on their beds, in addition to regularly-sized pillows. While those square pillows make for a great look, I found mine uncomfortable to sleep on, and on Day 2 left a note for housekeeping with a tip asking for another regular pillow. They brought not just one but two. As another example, the employee who helped me buy flip-flops in the cabana shop was incredibly nice and courteous.
Verdict. I simply can't wait to go back. Is there a better way to end a review? Staying at Wynn Tower Suites made our short birthday vacation very special.
