3 of us stayed at the Virgin for 4 nights whilst in Vegas celebrating a 40th birthday. We stayed in a double Queen room with a fabulous view of the pool area and the Strip. I was initially worried about the hotels off strip location but I need not have been. We didn’t attempt the walk as it was 40 degrees plus every day but there were plentiful taxi’s available outside the hotel everyday and uber was also always available. We never waited more than a few mins for a taxi and it took us to the strip in no more than 5 mins.
The hotel is beautiful and still has that ‘new’ feel. The rooms which they call chambers, are lovely and spacious, with a modern, cool design. There is a separate wardrobe and dressing room area that separates the bedroom and dressing room with a door, allowing privacy for a group sharing. Unlike hotels on the strip, there are no long queues for check in and the casino isn’t crowded and busy so you can relax and enjoy yourselves on the machines and roulette tables. The hotel has a number of restaurants, including a Nobu which we ate at and was delicious. We also ate at the mexican restaurant and at the Kitchen which is a 24 hour restaurant so you can always get a meal whenever you’re feeling hungry.
There are about 4 different pools with plenty of cabanas, loungers and relaxing space available, it was never really overcrowded and you could always find a lounger or cabana to sit at, a major plus in comparison to the crowed pool areas at the strip hotels.
The only slight grumble we had was about the aircon. It’s on a timer and comes on automatically even if you try to switch it off. When it’s coming on all night it could get really cold and it was frustrating that you couldn’t do anything about it. Also, like most fridges/minibars in Vegas, all the drinks and snacks are censored. If you even touch them accidentally, you will be charged. However we were warned about this at check in so we knew to stay well clear. Annoyingly it means you can’t bring your own drinks to put in the fridge as it’s full and if you take anything out you will be charged. If you want to use the fridge for your own water or drinks, they will empty it for you, but it will cost you $40! But that’s Vegas for you!
I have previously been to Vegas and stayed on the strip but now that I have stayed off strip at Virgin, I would definitely stay here over the strip if I ever return. All in all a fan hotel.
