Let's begin with the most memorable incident and then move on to the brighter aspects.
Firstly, I woke up to a gurgling sound. Upon inspection in the bathroom, I discovered a black sludge puddle in my shower. I promptly phoned the front desk for a cleanup and inquired about potential compensation. They promised to send someone and instructed me to discuss the compensation at the front desk. Two hours later, after my third request for shower cleanup, a person finally arrived to clean. The front desk attendant, though polite and professional, initially offered a food voucher as compensation. At this point, our plans had been delayed by two hours due to our inability to get ready. I insisted on a waiver of our resort fee, given that we had missed out on our morning activities at the resort. After a conversation with the manager, they agreed to this request.
The resort fee was sneaky. The third party I booked through, Klook, did mention the fee, but it was in a separate attachment, in fine print, and seemed like it was $50. However, it turned out to be $50 per person, which I only discovered upon check-in and it was too late to cancel. I'm unsure whether this oversight is Klook's or the resort's. The parking fee was also misrepresented as $20 in Klook's email, when it was actually $35.
I'm glad that I was able to get the fee waived, but disappointed that I had to fight for it, even after showing them the picture of the black puddle.
On the bright side, our room was clean and the staff were friendly.
