I've stayed at probably a dozen different strip hotels, and I unfortunately would not recommend Harrah's.

A few complaints:

In the middle of our second day there, both of our room keys stopped working. The line for the kiosks at the front desk in the lobby was super long, and even when we got to the kiosks, the screens told us we had to find a person anyway, which was nearly impossible. So frustrating.

The safe in the room didn't work, despite a nice man coming up and trying to fix it. He did offer to move us to another room, but by the time he arrived we had already completely unpacked, so that wasn't tenable. A couple of the lamps in the room didn't work either.

Housekeeping came banging on the door at 11:30 in the morning on our second day thinking we were checking out, despite the fact it was right in the middle of a 3-day stay AND we had a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door. Ironically, housekeeping never came after that, despite us wanting to have the room cleaned.

On the website, we booked a room that said “city view” and displayed a beautiful sunset photo of the High Roller Wheel. In reality, “city view” was a view looking out the window at a dirty parking garage, and that was it.

The elevators had a weird habit of canceling the floor that you pressed, i.e. you would press 15, someone else would get off at 7, and then your 15 would disappear, and you would go back down to the lobby. You would have to wave your hotel key in front of the sensors endlessly, trying to get them to work. (It reminded me of cheap public bathroom sinks where the water won’t come out from the faucet no matter how frantically you're flailing your hands under them.)

There was no uniformity regarding the pool hours. Half of the signs and notices said that it closed at 6 daily, and half of the signs and notices said it closed at 5 daily. (And in what world is it okay to close a hotel pool at 5pm in summer?) In the end, one day it closed at 5 and one day it closed at 6, so you never really knew what to expect. One entrance to the pool would be closed, and then it was like navigating a labyrinth to find the one that was open. Finally, the pool was tiny anyway, with signs urging you to make a reservation for it. A reservation for the pool of your own hotel? Really?

The front desk did not answer the phone. I repeat, the front desk did not answer the phone. They actually had something called a virtual assistant where you could send requests through text which was actually not half bad, but sometimes it's actually nice getting to talk to a person.

It was more of a death-by-a-thousand-cuts type of hotel than just one big stinker, but in the end, there are many other places that are much more recommendable.

Room tip: In reality, “city view” is a view looking out the window at a dirty parking garage, and that's it.

We were very happy with our stay at Harrah's. The room was spotlessly clean, roomy and very nice. the only thing was there was no refrigerator, which would have been helpful. Also, a great location on the Vegas Strip and free parking!

The check in experience was not pleasant which set a tone for the service at Harrahs. I’ve been to Vegas 10 plus times and more often than not If I arrive at a hotel before 4pm the front desk would try to accommodate early check in without an astronomical price. The first time I tried to check in, a woman named May wouldn’t even speak to our group and was rude demanding our license but then still pushed us towards a kiosk. Our group ordered two rooms and said our rooms couldn’t be near each other because we booked in different towers (although we both were in Mountain tower). We came back a second time to see if our room was ready which it wasn’t. The third time was after 4pm and again we were rudely pushed towards a kiosk that said my room wasn’t ready. A concierge was able to help and told me to try the kiosk again. Then the kiosk wouldn’t register my credit card with my name on the room because of my middle initial so had to wait for another concierge to actually check us in. This process was very time consuming and frustrating. Front desk staff need to be more accommodating as many other people in line were frustrated with this lack of service.
