Dont spend your money by any means to stay at the Luxor

1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 13 Oct 2024
Horrible guestroom product - rooms were super dated and dirty. The couch and chair in my rooms looked tattered and in really poor shape. Every part of this Hotel is falling apart. Food quaity is below average. They need to spend several hundred millions to renovate this Hotel. Don't make the mistake of staying at the Luxor.

We have been to Vegas a few times but this was our first stay at Luxor. First, the negative...a little far walk to the main part of the strip..now for the good stuff. The room was beautiful, the service, excellent, the casino large and well equipped and the dining was top notch and not over priced. I ordered pancakes for breakfast on our first morning. Although I am a big guy, I'm not a big eater. Expecting 2 or 3 small to medium sized pancakes, I was awestruck when my plate arrived. There were 7 pancakes, stacked like a pyramid, the bottom one being as big as the plate and the smallest one being the size I had expected. As good as they were, I only managed to eat 4 of them. Every other meal we had there was equally large and they were all delicious.

First off, we booked our stay for the pyramid and somehow our tickets switched to the tower. Some of the elevators did not work at all during our stay and the keys would not work properly to select a floor on others. The room did not have any kind of fridge which was a downside. The bathroom did not have an exhaust fan in it. House keeping only came once during our entire stay. The windows were very dirty so we could not really get a good view of the outside.

The hotel staff were super friendly and helpful. We got a cheap upgrade to a tower room, which was really nice. The room was a little tired--the carpets were worn and the bathroom fixtures had some lime and calcium buildup--but the bed was comfortable and the TV, remote, lights, and phone all worked. The elevators to the tower rooms were a little tired.

Food in and around the Luxor is pricey, and you don't get a fridge in the room, so be prepared to spend an average of $20-$30 per person every meal. Then again, if you're staying on the Strip, you're probably already expecting to spend a lot of money.

The area is very walkable, and you can go to Mandalay Bay and the Excalibur without going outside in the heat, and the New York New York is just a quick walk across a street overpass before you're back inside.

The highlight of our time in the Luxor was walking through the Titanic and Bodies exhibits. I loved seeing all of the artifacts from the wrecked ship. We also got to watch the demolition of the Tropicana on live television and felt the rumble of the explosives and the towers themselves as they fell. The whole room trembled like we were in an earthquake. It was awesome!

I was double charged for my stay and spoke to many staff members at the Luxor. None of which were able to give me a clear answer as to what was going on or how long it would take to fix the problem. My brother also booked a room for the same time I had booked my room. He experienced the same issue. No resolution came of speaking to different staff members of the Luxor.

Great atmosphere and a lot of things to keep you entertained. The Luxor is conveniently located near Mandalay Bay and Excalibur which provides for a terrific variety of dining options. There are also many shops to explore. Overall, I think this was the perfect place to stay for the location.
