From the moment we arrived the hotel was subpar, the hallway to the purple elevator smelled like some urinated in it, as we walked into the elevator a couple walking out warned us about how bad the elevators were (and they were correct), the hallway to our room was hot and smelled of smoke, the AC in our room was mediocre, the room smelled, housekeeping left a dirty rag over the phone (I assume it was housekeeping), there was hair in the tub (even though we had NO intention of using it)… all of this is upon arrival! We left the room to have dinner and when we came back our mobile key would not work in the elevator causing us to ride up/down twice before we were able to go straight for physical keys. As we were stuck riding the elevator another couple told us the lights went out on them at 3am when they were going to their room and the were left in the pitch dark until the got to their floor. When we reached the first floor to exit the elevator and attempt to make a physical key, the lady w/ red hair at the bell desk couldn’t careless about our experience and told us to go all the way to the end of the desk to make a key… there was NOTHING at the literal end of the desk. As we walked back towards the check in line we found the machine to make the key, however, the part needed to create the key was missing. There was no signage to indicate the machines were out of order bringing us to the peak of our dissatisfaction causing me to look for a manager. This is where the manager Jesus enters the picture, he is the only redeeming portion of the story. He listened, empathized, explained (when he could offer insight to the issues we were having) and he looked for a solution. He tried to upgrade us but there were no rooms w/ 2 beds available. Ultimately, he comped our first night and made the room keys we needed to successfully ride the horrible elevators. He was a ray of hope and despite his amazing efforts the fact that we still paid almost $400 to stay was an incredible ripoff for what the hotel offered. We would never recommend this hotel, rather we will definitely spread the word that the Luxor is not a hotel to waste your hard earned money on. Jesus, the manger is wonderful, he needs a promotion but realistically he needs to move to a higher end hotel that can mirror his excellent customer service.
