What an enjoyable stay at a really lovely hotel, which we consider to have been great value for money. The large, clean room we had faced the stunning valley and church view, it was modern and well equipped plus cleaned every day. We ate at the reasonably priced hotel restaurant on 3 occasions and they were my favourite meals of the holiday. Simple, tasty food cooked really beautifully. I recommend the Portuguese Steak dish, particularly for those with a good appetite! All of the staff we encountered were professional and friendly and spoke basic English.
Be aware that a hire car is pretty much 'a must' to get to this hotel and out and about in the wider area. With the twisting mountainous roads in all directions, a car with decent engine size/power is also advisable (my hubby found the Opal that we had a bit lacking when heading uphill at times).
This is a great hotel in a stunning location. Suitable for people looking to get away from a package resort kind of holiday and those that don't mind being next to some steep drops in places!More
