If you’re a sucker for old hotels like I am, the Murray is worth a stay.
Classic building and sign out front drew me in, and the rooms were modernized perfectly, while being clean and well thought out. And for an extra $30 you can bring your dog which is always a selling point for us.
Leena at the front desk was super cool and helpful and added to the Murray’s charm.
I would definitely recommend this Hotel! And check out Neptune’s Tap House and Eatery too.

We always wanted to stay at the historic Murray Hotel in Livingston, so we decided to do just that. We had a nice stay in Room 402; a California bed with a most wonderful mattress, a well equipped kitchenette and lots of room in an open floor plan; where we could peek out at from our 4th floor corner room at the streets below, even the historic train station; all close to downtown dining and local watering holes; thanks Murray staff for your hospitality and a visit we won't soon forget; we'll be back!

Room tip: We heard the trains all night, passing through town at all hours; added to the experience, but we'll ask for a quieter room next time.

The hotel is very cool, it’s old for sure. Now I realize we are in a weird time Covid B.S but they most definitely are not giving a deal for no amenities.
I know that part of the look is it’s old wonky look but we felt like we were sleeping in Sanfords & Sons house. Old- dusty stuff all around. The shower knob was in the tub, light bulbs burnt out, hair in the sink, just a mess off clutter. No room service for 5 days which is B.S because we have traveled a ton lately and all hotels do service... just an excuse to not have staff on maybe?
Now the staff all real nice!!

But a crap ton off cash for a unkept hotel... I’ve stayed in older so that’s no excuse.

Check-in was fast and friendly. Old world charm everywhere in the lobby and hallways. A gold key gets you into your room.

Ate our dinner on the Hotel’s rooftop during sunset; take-out from Gil’s Goods and beer from Katabatic brewery down the street.

Our room felt like spending a night in a historic time capsule from the railway days.

Tons of random knickknacks, amenities and a fully stocked mini-kitchenette.

Hearing the train in the distance added charm and character to the evening.

5 stars. Thanks for a great stay.

Room spotless. Murray is like time travel in the best way possible. In the time of COVID, everything is limited for example the Bistro is closed...doesn't matter. Gill's Goods serving the best burger and Neopolitan Pizza ever, eat alfresco out back behind the hotel! The locals treat you like an old friend. The staff was everything you would expect from a legendary location. I see why Anthony Bourdain put this place on his list of top 10 hotels in the WORLD. I could not have been more satisfied with my stay. (Parking is tricky)

Room tip: Top floors offer better views and are closer to rooftop lounge.
