Great front desk people. Very helpful! Rooms were very clean and beds very comfortable. The breakfast was much better than I was expecting for a standard "hotel breakfast." They had a large variety of foods and it was all exceptional. One of the best features is there is a top rated steak restaurant with a great bar next door and there is a really good Pub with great burgers next door as well. No driving!

This is a nice hotel tucked away in the historic district of Helena. We stayed in the mini suite and had a great view of the fountains and carousel below. It is close to the Last Chance Gulch for shopping and dining. Staff was very friendly and the complimentary breakfast was great with a full selection of foods. The room was very clean and came with complimentary water and a safe.

Location was great to walk to Capital, Cathedral, Governor’s mansion and shops and restaurants very clean and breakfast was better with the homemade salsa for the scrambled eggs Beautiful historical lobby with train theme. Close to brewery and staff was very helpful and made you feel welcomed. We would stay here again next time we are in Helena

Really enjoyed our stay here. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful, professional and friendly. Our room was great; quiet and nicely appointed. The bed was the best of our trip. It was nice to come back to our room and relax after a busy day. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Helena.

The Great Northern is so much more than a hotel it is a destination. Be forewarned! We are biased because we have stayed here enough to know they are very consistent and it is Great every time. We kinda plan our trips to somehow go through Helena.

The location is great and there is something for most people. There is a lot to see/do/eat/drink in walking distance.
The rooms are clean and comfortable.The breakfast room is better than any we have been in anywhere. The selections are many and will accommodate most needs. The House Blend coffee is very good! I wish I made coffee that good at home.
It you have kids that you can get out of the pool (They have poolside rooms that open into the pool area. Wish I knew this when the grandkids were little.) Take them down to the Great Northern Carousel. They sell really good ice cream along with the rides. Follow the path down through the tunnel over to the park on the other side of Lyndale Ave. Last time we took a walk over there we watched a Rugby practice.
Don't miss going to the Capitol or Mass at the Cathedral. Always check out events at the Lewis And Clark County Fairgrounds. There is a lot to do in Helena (They have a Costco) and something for just about everyone. And stay at the The Great Northern so when you need a break! You have a GREAT place to stay! Highly recommend!
