Great hospitality

Evett McCormick is a wonderful hostess. She was very attentive and accommodating. The home is beautiful and comfortable. So much so you want to forget why you're in Helena and just hang out there on a wintry day.

We had a delightful stay at the historic Barrister B&B in Helena. Nick was so full of information as he showed us through the wonderful house. He really did a great job of bringing the history of the House to life.We loved the individual bathrooms that were associated with each room. Great antiques & special touches. The hors d’oeuvres & wine at 5:30 was really nice, in spite of George. Ha! Ha!The breakfast was great too. Just right, not too much or too greasy. Thank you , Yvette!! Such a nice change from the usual hotel. Very cozy.

This bed and breakfast is directly across the street from The Cathedral of St. Helena, a beautiful and historic cathedral, 30 seconds up the hill from Holter Art Museum and just a few blocks away from Last Chance Gulch which includes a very nice pedestrian area. Nick, the owner, and Yvette, his assistant, welcomed us warmly before taking us on a tour of the home. Our room was very large and quiet, and our bathroom was good size with outlets available inside it. My only complaint about our room was that I was a little warm. The window opened, but it wasn't enough breeze for me. The home is full of antiques and pictures of well-known people. It is very clean, and they really make you feel at home here. Yvette set up hours d'oeuvres and wine on the front porch at 5:30, and she joined us for a nice talk before we left for dinner. They have this set up every evening. Breakfast was good. Wish we had been able to stay another night.

We don't very often stop in B&Bs, because they make us feel constrained when we are traveling. We chose this one because it was one of the few highly rated places to stay near downtown Helena, and we are glad that we did. Each room has its own striking style, and the common areas are gorgeous. From the veranda or back porch, where the host offers breakfast (and wine and cheese in the late afternoon), one looks across at the cathedral. In short, a very, very beautiful place to stay. Plus, the owner, Nick, is a native of Helena and a fountain of knowledge about the city, including its seamier sides, things that don't show up in the guidebooks. We had a blast talking with him. The people who work with him were extremely warm and welcoming. We would love to stay here again.

Loved our stay at the Barrister! You won't find a better host than Nick, the owner of the b&b. Our room (White Room) had an en suite and perfectly functioning AC unit. Location couldn't be any better - it's on a quiet street right next to the cathedral. Walking distance to restaurants and pubs. The furnishings have been carefully chosen and are of quaint Victorian decor. Brekkie was delicious and thoughtfully prepared by the host.

Comfortable, well-appointed rooms, nicely decorated. Comfortable bed with a choice of pillows. Gracious hosts who are loaded with information about the area. Menus of local restaurants. The house itself is a mansion appointed with period furniture. You have access to a large parlour with comfortable furniture and interesting reading material. All of this is expected in a quality B&B. BUT the breakfast was over the top. Several "courses" of homemade items, all locally sourced and perfectly prepared. Kept us going hours beyond our usual time.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and it will be a return destination.

Room tip: All the rooms are wonderful
