Stayed here two nights for a business trip and utilized the conference room at the hotel. The friendliness of the staff is exceptional, for example they provided excellent restaurant recommendations and loaned out bear spray. Hotel is clean and modern. Lobby bar and rooftop bar are both a plus. $35 per night for valet parking seems excessive, especially when the parking lot is not paved and is unsecured. The valet fee is adequately disclosed when you make a reservation, but for this price expected more than parking in a grass / gravel lot. The valets did provide great service. A few issues with the room. Like all lower end Marriotts, they utilize a thermostat that runs on a motion detector. This means the HVAC unit constantly cycles off and on, and there is no way to have constant fan noise. The first night of the stay, the thermostat would not switch from heat to cool. I reported this to the front desk, and a hotel employee was nice enough to immediately come to the room, but was unable to switch from heat to cool. I was also told there is no way to override the thermostat control to allow for a constant fan. The heat - air conditioning issue was fixed the next day. Also, the room had a sulfur like smell when you entered, I did not report this to the front desk, everyone else at the meeting I attended had the same issue. So - two nights of limited sleep because the room was hot the first night, and the constant cycling off and on of the HVAC the second. Because this was not a good environment for a decent night’s sleep, I would not stay at this hotel again.
