Not Bad, but Not As Expected

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 31 Jul 2020
Backstory: Hubby and I completed an 18-day trip with the grandkids and this was our last stop; the waterpark was the draw!

+Due to Covid, etc. I booked a suite to allow for more room, especially because we anticipated the likelihood of ordering in pizza or something and wanted the extra space.

- The description of the room I booked said it had a kitchen and dining area. No to both. The "kitchen" was a granite countertop with a microwave and mini fridge. Not even a little bar sink. And, the photo showed a high-top dining table with four chairs; that wasn't there, either.

+Laminate floors throughout so no "questionable" carpeting and it helped when the kids came back from the waterpark.

+Very comfortable beds and one of the queens was in a room by itself with a second t.v.

+The waterpark was open when we checked in (worried due to Covid it might not be) and it appeared to me they'd done a pretty decent job of working to keep the area clean, and with efforts at social distancing. Also, a reduced rate for the kids because we were guests at the hotel (BTW, hubby and I did't want to do the waterpark thing but we were allowed in at no charge just to keep an eye on the kiddos)

+/- Due to having a suite we had two televisions (good for the kids) but the remotes either needed batteries or something; difficult to operate and there was no channel guide.

+/- We were told breakfast was included but due to Covid it would be a 'grab-and-go' type thing. Fine. Available at 7:00. We intended to leave earlier, but hung around to get our take-out type breakfast. Went to the breakfast room righ at 7:00. Not only was no one around, but the room was also darkened and nothing available, not even coffee. So we left.

Traveling with kids, I would stay here again IF the waterpark is open. For just the two of us, probably not.

Traveling with my son on his senior trip. We were not interested in the waterpark portion so we did not go there. As far as the hotel goes, room was clean and comfortable. Only downside was there seemed to be a leak coming from under the tub. no big deal though. Room was great and we would definitely go back!

We booked this place after we called about the water park the staff told us it was open. We arrived and it was closed. The pool was open but nothing else. The hotel is nice the staff was super helpful and friendly. They offered breakfast bags to go which was very nice and the front desk service coffee. The rooms are large and clean. With laminate floors. However the beds were not very comfortable and the pillows very small. It would have been 4 stars if the water park was open because that was the main reason we stopped here. But we get it, it’s pandemic season. Just disappointed.

Everything was amazing, from the time I called to reserve the room, which was a jacuzzi suite, to the time we left! When we checked in, James the front desk clerk was very exceptional. His customer service skills were amazing and he made you feel very welcome. I definitely recommend staying here. The room was awesome!❤️❤️

We looked forward to staying in Billings for the Christmas shopping, but our kids were looking forward to staying at the Bighorn for its waterpark, which they have loved in the past...
So, it was very lovely to tell our 8-year-old that we would be staying at the Bighorn...but there is no waterslide, no waterpark, no kiddie pool, no hot tub, NOTHING but the shower in our room if he wanted to get wet. Since our reservation was non-refundable, it's not like we could just go somewhere else.
We felt cheated. There is nothing on the website, nothing in online descriptions telling potential customers that they are undergoing renovations (or they've removed the waterpark altogether).
DON'T STAY HERE IF YOU'RE DOING IT FOR YOUR KIDS!

Oh, and when I asked the guy at the front desk if it really was true (there's a sign in the lobby that informs customers with reservations that there is no waterpark), he essentially said, "Yup." Zero apologies.

First time staying at this hotel. A great choice if you have children. The water park is a plus. The kids loved it-even the teenagers. The rooms are large and perfect for families. Great staff and good customer service. The pool area was clean and so were the rooms. We enjoyed our stay.
