We loved the historic district! There are things for people of all ages. Nice restaurants, walking areas and beautiful view of the river.

Olde Towne St. Charles is a lovely area to spend a day or a weekend. This is an old preserved part of a historic city which thrived through the years on the shores of the Missouri River. Old homes transformed into shops, restaurants, galleries, bed & breakfasts and a winery. Quite a presence everywhere from the Lewis & Clark Expedition as they embarked to discover “the West”. Though one may drive slowly along the cobblestone streets, highly suggest parking the car and walking Main Street. Check Calendar of Events as there are always parades and festivals - usually with a theme of a much simpler time. Many festivals highlight characters dressed in and portraying the time period of the L&C era. Plenty of places to eat and shop. Parking is free. Horse-drawn carriage rides. Or just walk down and have a picnic near the old train depot while watching the mighty river flow by. Christmas is also a very special time to visit as the decorations transform the area. This area is very close in proximity to reality when you are ready to “come back” to 2018. Within a few minutes drive to Ameristar & Hollywood casinos, an outdoor concert venue in Riverport and multiple restaurant & hotel chains. A 20-25 minute interstate drive due west from downtown St. Louis and about 10 minutes west of St. Louis Lambert Int’l airport. Very safe suburban area. Enjoy!!

This is a great place to go window shopping strolling in and out of stores in an old time main street atmosphere. Great place for a historical views of time gone by. Also just a block off of the river front.

This is a nice place to walk up and down the street if your into shopping for original, one of a kind, items. There are a variety of shops and lots of pubs and restaurants. My favorite sops were Joys and Grandmas cookies. Prices were reasonable considering these are specialty shops.
