We saw the cargo being unloaded from the ship with the traditional barges carrying the goods ashore very interesting. The next day they moved to Cascade Bay so we visited there as well.

It was really interesting to watch the boats lifted in and out of the water and inspect the days catch. Also a great view

Norfolk Island how beautiful and untouched you are.
We were blessed to visit this island in the Pacific June this year. The fun began at Sydney Airport because we were literally all at sea trying to find where we were supposed to be to check in. Finally we were able to find a wonderful woman at the Air New Zealand check in who snapped her fingers and we had a private escort to rush us through customs and take us to where the boarding gate was which was quite a distance away. Believe me it was no easy undertaking. The flight was good and we were lucky that the wind allowed us to finally land. We stayed at South Pacific Resort Hotel which was wonderful and ideally situated in the town of Kingston. The islanders are a wonderful hospitable bunch of relaxed laid back identities. There is even a well stocked duty free store and the restaurants are wonderful. A supply ship comes every second week loaded with all types island needs even cars. We were lucky enough to be there and watch the unloading of the supply ship into large row boats that have to navigate the huge swell and come alongside Kingston Pier. where a crane is set up to unload the extremely large heavy duty row boats which are built on the island. The scenery is pure delight and breathtaking. We hired a car and took in all that Norfolk had to offer and were never disappointed.
The island is rich in history and the unique language they speak was brought to Norfolk Island by the Pitcairners on the 8th June 1856. The Wonderland by Night show is a must see as is the cliff top barbeque and singing and dance entertainment night.
Travellers if you have thought about this island then put it in your bucket list. It is AMAZING......and a must visit

Kingston pier is a must see. If a windy day waves are exceptionally large and you can appreciate how so many ships were wrecked. Much history to enjoy at this popular site on Norfolk

This has to be one of the must see on Norfolk.
They say it is sight to behold when the ships with freight are unloading. This is a difficult pier with a shallow harbour for freight, this has been a skill handed down to many generations. We were not bless to view these skills of the locals. It only happens once per month.
