Poor breakfast, horrible annex buildings

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 20 Jun 2017
We booked this hotel for a long weekend, our goal was relaxing, having time away from every day's life.
We had a room in one of the annex buildings near to the Spa. The room was enormous, clean but without air conditioning it felt to be in a green house. Beds are not comfortable.
Our biggest issue was the breakfast. According to hotel rules, breakfast is served from 7.30 am to 10.30 on a Sunday. We got to the breakfast restaurant at 09h45 and almost there was no food left, tables were booked for lunch reservations. Were told by a waitress that it's almost brunch time. We had to ask for everything, called the restaurant manager and he ensured that we get what we needed. I do not understand other comments on breakfast, no freshly squeezed juices are available AT ALL (wellness hotel), fruit choice limited and no gluten free products are provided.
The only positive in the hotel is the Spa area & personnel.
Date of stay: June 2017
Room Tip: Don't think they are any. New building is busy therefore always noisy, old buildings are not...

Dear XY
Thank you for your feedback. We regret that you did not enjoy your stay and that breakfast was a disappointment to you. Yes, brunch preparations were under way around that time. And we do understand that guests would like to relax and enjoy a late breakfast on Sundays. If some items are missing on the buffet towards the end of the breakfast time, guests are (and were) encouraged to order whatever items they desire with our waitresses. Maybe communication on our part was not quite clear and we apologize for this. Also, we do have fresh juice on the buffet as well as lactose free products. Gluten free bread is available upon request, as we want to ensure that there is no cross contamination.
Our Waldhaus building is classified 3* and priced accordingly. The rooms are equipped with new ergonomic beds (flow sleep system), that a majority of our guests thoroughly enjoy. As it is the case with most (three star) hotels, there is indeed no air conditioning (as published on our website). Fans are provided upon request (and lake Thun is really cool and refreshing on hot summer days :-)).

Again, we regret having to learn about your disappointment; we would have preferred to talk to you about this in person, as we would have found a way to compensate you and turn your stay into an enjoyable experience. While having to deal with complaints face to face is never a pleasure for us (and naturally also for you as a guest), we strongly believe that it is always more constructive and educational than having to reply to XY...
We would be happy to have the possibility to be your hosts in the future and convince you that the Deltapark is the best place to "get away from it all".
Regards from beautiful lake Thun

Had agreat stay at new DeltaPark resort recently, the setting is superb, right on the lake, just 10 minutes from Thun. Wonderful spa and sauna, plus exercise equipment and gym, makes a stay here both relaxing and invigorating.the views from the lake facing rooms are wonderful, even in winter, so it must be spectactular in the warmer months.

The restaurant had a reasonable choice of mains and wines, with good service and a lovely setting. Breakfast included and was also a good standard. All in all a great stay at a wonderful resort, beautiful views, and good facilities and service.

Room tip: Rooms with a lake view are more expensive, but also lovely.

Outstanding hotel in the lake of THON with very modern design and furniture. The hotel is new and has a spacious rooms and outstanding spa club. The staff were great and eager to provide assistant whenever is needed. The breakfast was also good with nice selections and fresh juices.

Room tip: Although rooms facing lake are more expensive, yet the view is not that spectacular

This place is practically perfect. We stayed 3 nights in the main hotel and the rooms were fantastic. The Spa is amazing. Hotel staff lovely.
Some little quirks are that the bathroom is part of the bedroom with a glass wall for the shower. So not much privacy.
Also - no air con in the rooms which was a big issue as it was 28C when we were there. Hotel will provide fans, but basically you cook in the rooms. That's why I have given them 4 stars not 5.

Dear MCMJ2014
thank you very much for your positive feedback. We are very happy that your stay was a success and you recommend our property.
We have had some feedback regarding the missing air conditionning and take this very seriously. Temperatures of more than 25° Celcius are not common for our area; however we understand that when these hot days occur, our rooms get a little too toasty. Usually night time temperatures are well below 20°, so cooling off at night is possible at least.

We will monitor the problem and - if at all possible - address it over winter. Thank you again for your feedback!

Nice room overlooking the lake. The room was very comfortable and sound proof. On each floor, as you got off the elevator, there was water and fresh fruit for the taking. The buffet breakfast was very good, with the best croissants I've had in years and wonderful fruit salad, breads and jam. The shower was a walk in with the half door as is the case in most of Europe. The floor was extremely slippery and we both almost fell more than once, even though we were very careful. Also, since there is no door on the bathroom, anyone taking a shower is in full view to someone coming in the door from the hallway. Also, no bars to hold onto in the shower. The beds were very comfortable, no air conditioning, but they did give us a fan. I was told A/C is not allowed...who knows.
Front desk staff very helpful and pleasant.
No peephole in the door, that would be nice.
Overall, a nice hotel.

Thank you, sweetsofie1228, for your feedback. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay.
Your inputs are very valuable to us, and especially important if they concern safety matters. We will address the slippery showers immediately as other guests expressed their concern. As a first measure, guests can request shower mats from front desk. Also we are currently testing a safety coating - one room has already been equipped with an "AntiSlip" coating. If the tests are successful, we should be able to make all showers completely safe in a short period of time.

Thanks again for your feedback!

Stunning hotel spa in central Switzerland on the shores of the Lake of Thun.
Newly reopened after extensive renovation and expansion. Newly built 2 story hotel overlooking the lake. Extensive remodel of 2 older mid 1960's lakeside buildings that now house the hotels spa. Indoor and outdoor pools, saunas, steam rooms, massage rooms all located in the spa. Onsite spa staff available for wide range of spa treatments.
Checkin was quick and seamless. Lakeside room was spacious and modern. Large washroom with very large glass enclosed shower and separate WC. Bed very comfortable with large soft hypoallergenic duvet. Large flat screened TV. In room electronic safe. Ample closet space. Luxurious bathrobe and slippers provided along with extra towels for use at the pools and spa. The hotel was very quiet for sleeping. No noise from adjoining rooms or hallways even though hotel was full overnight.
Hotel has large restaurant overlooking the lake. Seating has both intimate tables for 2 and larger tables for 4, 6 or more.
The dinner menu and wine list extensive. Dinner came hot and cooked to perfection. Wait staff was very attentive.
Breakfast had many choices. Fresh fruit, yogurt, muesli, cereals, fresh baked bread and croissants, cheese and sliced meats. Hot eggs, strip bacon, hash brown potatoes, sausage. Choices of fresh fruit juice, teas and coffee.
Checkout was as easy as checkin.
Ample reduced rate parking for hotel guests and public bus stops outside the hotel entrance.
I would definitely stay longer on my next trip.
