We stayed a week in Clarksdale for the blues festival. I loved our funky little house! It was so eclectic and fun! Great amenities! I enjoyed the backyard immensely. I would stay there again in a heartbeat ❤️
Leaving for Clarksdale Mississippi tomorrow for the Juke Joint Festival, staying at the Delta Bohemian Guest House again. Don't know if it's possible to have a better and more comfortable time than we did on our last visit. The DBGH is the coolest accommodations I've ever experienced, definitely Bohemian, classy-funky, kinda artsy and well stocked pantry and refrigerator. Madge and Billie are the greatest. Officially the hosts, from the minute we met them, we knew we met some new friends. They gave us tips on where to go and what to do and they were spot on every time.
This was just a short stop-off point for 4 Brits on our road trip from Nashville to New Orleans - taking in the Route 61 pilgrimage. And boy we are glad we picked on Clarksdale – though it seems the obvious choice now. The Delta Bohemian Guest House was homely, comfortable and yet ever so quirky in a really brilliant and memorable way.
Added to that we made friends with Madge and Billy. Took Billy’s trip round the Mississippi and got all the stories and intros that inevitably arose. Music every night – Club Zero, Reds Juke Joint etc…. and we even got to take breakfast with Lucious Spiller playing the blues – highly recommended.
Overall it was a very special holiday to the four of us and our time in Clarksdale was up there with all our very best moments.
We got together and saw Charlie Musselwhite last Saturday night in London and it brought back all those memories. He and Ben Harper were brilliant, by the way…..as you would expect!
Hopefully we will be back!
This stay made our 25 years of celebration for our anniversary, it had so many add on, and extras, luxuries, etc, that you need to experience the whole package full of surprises, that includes also the knowledge that Miss Magical Madge will bring you. as soon as you open the door Bohemian Guesthouse, it becomes an experience, we used the taxi with Mr. Rosenvelt, who would come to the rescue anytime of the night when we would lose the steam in one of the Blues Juke Joints, which are a must to visit if you like the sound of the authentic blues from many gathering local blues artists, you can lose a few pounds easy on the dance floor! Meeting Miss Magical Madge is a refreshing, her energy is filled with sweet Southern hospitality making you feel at home, we also had the pleasure in visiting the White House and made our choice even more difficult in when we come back shall we stay in the beautiful white house or the guest house,. we highly recommend both.
Finely decorated, highly comfortable house. Owners clearly have deep expertise on what's going on in the area and give excellent advise on what to do and see. It will top off your Blues trail.
