Accessible by boat or helicopter only, this magical hideaway in the Marlborough Sounds the perfect place to relax and unwind. Incredibly good food, wonderful staff, luxury accommodation ..... we travelled by helicopter from Wellington, which was a memorable experience. I cannot rate Bay of Many Coves highly enough ..... a very special place to be.

Room Tip: No choice necessary - all rooms are equally perfect.

Traveling in by helicopter is one of the most magical ways to start your escape at the Bay of Many Coves Resort and gives you spectacular views across the Marlborough Sounds on the way down here.
Once here you can enjoy everything from bush walks, to paddle boards, through to visits to bird sanctuaries or maybe a chartered fishing adventure. There is something here for everyone as well as outstanding food, a world class wine list and some of the most amazing staff I have had the pleasure of working with. Thanks to you guys for coming down - I am so glad Trevor finally got to come down and see us. Please come again

This is a truly special place. The location is just stunning. The hotel is situated in the midst of soaring green hills and looks over the Queen Charlotte Sound. Very serene, with the peace only interrupted by melodious bird song. I received a very warm and friendly welcome from everyone. From the moment I arrived everything was taken care of. Nothing was too much trouble. All the staff were fantastic. Every single one. My room was beautiful with an incomparable view. The food was absolutely delicious. I went by water taxi to a special bird sanctuary, and to walk on the Queen Charlotte Track, both of which were truly amazing. How wonderful to return to the hot tub, the swimming pool and to a gourmet dinner overlooking the Sound where I watched seals and dolphins play, and then a blissful nights sleep. A truly incredible experience.

Thank you Jackie for your wonderful review. You nailed all that is GREAT about the Bay of Many Coves - in particular (for me) the wonderful team that live and work here. We are very fortunate to have such talent in every part of the resort and Kim and I are very proud of each and every one of them :-)
Yes, the views are sensational, yes the bird song is unlike anywhere else I have ever been and yes the food is spectacular - but the absolute tranquility of this part of the Marlborough Sounds is nothing shy of amazing and we are go grateful to be able to share it with such wonderful people.
Thank you for staying with us. Please don't be shy of returning some day soon.

Bay of Many Coves Resort is located directly in the Queen Charlotte Sound, accessible by watertaxi or helicopter only. From the modern and very clean rooms you can enjoy a perfect view over the bay.

The hosts and stuff are just perfect and if needed they can organise hiking tours on the Queen Charlotte Track including boat transfers. Of course you can explore the Queen Charlotte Track starting directly from the resort. Making the very steep way up to the highest point of the Sound at Bay of Many Coves Lookout requires good perseverance, but the view is absolutely worth it. You can also take one of the resort's various kayaks or dinghies and start the exploration of the Sound by water.

We had dinner at the resort's restaurant which is famous for its beef and venison (also 5 out of 5!). I would recommend to book your stay including breakfast and dinner since Bay of Many Coves Resort is an absolute hideaway and there is no access to any other restaurant. If you want, you can bring some food for self-sufficiency in the (small) room-included kitchen, but it is the better choice to have your meals in the resort.

What a lovely review Patric, thank you so much and also thank you both for spending time with us here at the Bay of Many Coves Resort. You managed to highlight all of the cool stuff you can do during your stay, much of which takes a bit of an effort - particularly the walk to see the stunning views of the Marlborough Sounds from our lookout, 1000 feet above the resort.
We can also arrange lots of other excursions whilst here - in particular we have a new charter which takes guests out on-board a lovely launch for a luncheon prepared by a chef from a super yacht - very cool!
Thank you again for coming to stay - we loved sharing your company and look forward to your return.

We visited the restaurant on the jetty for lunch. What a brilliant day. Nice to sit in the sun with a great bottle of wine, a fantastic lunch, in the sun with friends. The duck meal was very good! Need to get there by boat - which adds to the coast if you are getting a water taxi, but a nice day out for a treat.

Thank you so much for your feedback and for joining us in the Bight Cafe, where you literally do sit over the water enjoying a lovely meal and glass of wine as nature unfolds in front of you.
We have recently changed our menu in readiness for a really busy Summer season so you must call back and let us know your thoughts. We welcome all our locals and visitors to the Bight Cafe and enjoy sharing a story or two along the way.
Look forward to seeing you back soon.

Wow what can I say! This place should be on your bucket list. I have been home in Australia 3 weeks now and planning when we can go back again.
The hospitality you receive at the resort is the best we have ever encountered.
The apartments have absolutely everything you need for your stay. The bed is lush!
The regular service of your room by the aka ‘room fairies’ - amazing!
The food and wine - wow my mouth waters thinking about it!
The views, the walks, nature, sunrises and sunsets - breathtaking.
Graeme - top host! - thank you for everything!
This is the best 5 Star luxury accommodation that I have stayed in. A hidden gem! Do yourself a favour and experience this yourself. We will be back and look forward to doing it all again!

That has to be the first time I have heard the reference 'Room Fairies", but they certainly are aren't they. The teams aim here at the Bay of Many Coves Resort is to make you feel as relaxed and comfortable as we possibly can, so you can enjoy the uninterrupted beauty that is the Marlborough Sounds and we just want to make that experience as memorable as possible.
Thank you for your kind words about our team and of your visit - we are enormously proud of each and every one of them - all of whom play their part in making your stay an enjoyable one.
Whilst it was an absolute pleasure having you stay with us, it will be an even greater pleasure to welcome you back. Till next time . . . . ..
