“a break from all the madness”
Reviewed 15 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

i have been travelling to trenannick cottages for the last twenty odd years, there are five in total, beech -pond-ash-little leighs and the round house and i have stayed in all but one of them

. the current owners have been here for approx 16 years and when we visit its like catching up with old friends, anyone who stays for the first time will be made very welcome. and every time you return too.

beech cottage has a nice feel when you enter, some may think its odd having an upside down setting but it allows a good view out over the fields and hills from upstairs, you cant beat sitting with the with the balcony window open on a nice sunny day.

so you go in through the door to a hallway, follow this straight ahead( mind your head as there is a low beam, its scored a few hits over the years)to the downstairs twin room, to the right is the bathroom/toilet and to the left is the downstairs double room and stairs.

going up the stairs to the main living room you will find a third twin room on the left, then the kitchen which has oven, hob, microwave and washer dryer and the main room.
there is a solid wood fuel fire, freeview tv, dvd player and a bluetooth speaker should you want to play some music.
for the geeks out there they have excellent broadband wifi , i recorded downloads of around 12mbs using speed test and we could all sit and be antisocial on our phones/tablets with no problems. and if the cornish weather is playing up there are board games, books to read etc.

on the table you find a folder giving details of the cottages and the surrounding areas, places to visit etc an in the fridge there is a pint of milk ready for a cuppa after a long drive.

its fun to find the place after navigating the narrow lanes( watch out for week st mary, once you enter all the roads out seem to take you back in)
as you turn down the drive you will come to a cattle grid, just to the left is a copse for letting the dog have a wee/ bit of excercise ,if you have brought one. dogs are not allowed in all the cottages.

nearest civilisation is about three miles away at wainhouse corner, pubs okay for food and beer, also a small convenience store and garage, boscastle and bude are both about 15 mins away depending on which way you go at the main road.

infront of the cottages other side of the parking is a good sized grassed area with two brick built barbeques, nice on a decent day to relax, eat, watch the sun go down and the bats come out to play.

if you like star gawping then it gets very dark, hardly any light pollution in this part, on a clear night theres the field with swings in, grab a blanket, some binoculars and go and look at the view to infinity and beyond

it takes roughly 4 and half hours from where we live to getting here, the peace and quiet soon helps you to relax, aided by the genuine warmth of the owners, who if you find something amiss with the cottages you are in, are approachable and will do their best to sort any problems out.

“Absolute Bliss”
Reviewed 6 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We visit North Cornwall / South Devon once a year as we have family in Launceston.
I can say this has been by far the best visit we have had due to amazing accommodation.
The cottage is set in a lovely quiet location and you are soon hit with the peacefulness of the place.
The grounds are lovely. Picnic benches and BBQs are available and a meadow with swings for the kids.
Unfortunately the british weather was against us but that gave us an excuse to have the open fire going at night which was nice.
The cottage itself is spotlessly clean!!
Also my youngest son was up early every day to feed goats with Lorraine......and i have to say the owners are so welcoming.
One of the best things is the location. You are about ten mins from Crackington Haven which has a great pub serving nice food. Bude is only a few mins further away.
To be honest words dont really do this place justice. Its just perfect.
