Description: The Douglas Lake Bar & Steakhouse, known to locals as the "DLB", has a rich history of providing great food and service in a rustic log building overlooking Douglas Lake. The two giant fieldstone fireplaces offer the perfect dining ambiance during the winter* and shoulder seasons. Summer guests enjoy live acoustic music at the lakeside patio or dinner on the screened-in dining porch.

This is yet-again a place where I really wish Trip Advisor would offer up half-star options. But I digress.
First the good about the DL Bar and Steakhouse. The food is quite well-made (we split the eggroll appetizer, and each had their signature Steak Diane). We sat outside and the view is pretty--not stunning or beautiful, but more of a classic upnorth vibe adjacent to a small marina and private docks. It can be a good deal, as well, as entrees ordered before 6PM have a "buy one, get one at 50% off) option. Still, even with that, it's not cheap, and with the prices charged one should also have higher service expectations.
And it is there that our experience at the restaurant fell short. We were greeted--curtly--by our server who failed to mentioned that there was a dinner special (we later discovered one was offered by overhearing another server at another table). Later, after our appetizer, she failed to replenish our forks when the salad arrived adding an awkward moment while we tried to get her attention. She failed to refill our wine glasses. It was almost as if she was waiting for the summer season on Douglas Lake to end--we felt like one more set of out-of-towners, clamboring into Pellston for dinner.
So, while the food is good, and the setting is pretty, we find no reason to make the effort to come back to Pellston for another meal.

We ate here many years ago and loved the food. We recently went back again. We loved the wedge salad. However the planked whitefish was disappointing. It was served traditionally on a plank with the dutchess potatoes. It was a good size filet, but it wasn’t cooked enough, should be flakey, not watery. Not a lot of flavor, or seasoning, didn’t taste like they used any butter. The potatoes were good. Love the view of the lake and the rustic atmosphere but we were disappointed with our fish.

It's a shame that you were disappointed with your meal as we typically get rave reviews for our fish. We hope you will give us another chance someday.

Being an East Coaster we seldom find walleye available. Douglas Lake had it and prepared it perfectly. Just the right size fillet and with a perfect texture. My wife and friends had the planked whitefish which they also enjoyed. The hostess gave us a seat on the porch to oversee the lake in an air conditioned setting. Perfect in every way.

Thanks for the great review. As you know Walleye is a Michigan/Ohio delicacy and the Whitefish is truly an up-north fish. We pride ourselves on the fact that the chef is very adept at their preparations. We're glad you enjoyed your experience and hope to see you again.

This is a very great place to eat. We ate outside. There was a nice breeze coming off the lake which we had a great view of. I had a 16 oz Ribeye which was cooked to perfection. I usually don’t like steak ate a restaurant because I’m usually let down. I loved the Ribeye! My wife got the scallops and risotto. I tried the scallops and they were great too.
